Nicky J's IM Fusion 25 Lagoon

This will be a tank thread for the IM Nuvo Fusion 25 I just setup on Saturday (10/8/16)

This will be my third reef tank but my first time with a nano. Very happy with the quality of these IM tanks.

My plan is to keep things simple on this bedroom apartment tank and reuse some stuff I have around from my old 60g cube. Going without sand or a skimmer for now. I want to stock clowns and BTAs probably with some softies like gsp or xenia.

Equipment List:

IM Nuvo 25

Jebao PP4

Radion Pro

Cobalt Neotherm 100w heater

Tunze Osmolator

Using ESV salt and a Spectrapure 90gpd RODI

Setup and week 1 pics:

I've always had a skimmer on my tanks so I just ordered a Reef Glass Nano Protein Skimmer. After I run it for a few weeks and I can let you guys know what I think - its a simple air stone style skimmer ala Mame

So far so good with the skimmer. Not getting tons but what I am getting out is gross. Here is a pic of 3 days worth of skimmate

Quick new person question....is the algae something you want to be seeing at the start? Or is that something that is suppose to be all cleared up by the end of the cycle?

Nope. Rocks are probably releasing a lot of phosphate and/or lights too close. That's some crazy algae growth for new tank. I didn't get that till after 1 year but just some small patches

I saw my first reefs critters last night a mini brittle star and some pods.

add some sand and they will multiply.. I probably have atleast 100 mini's by now

are you using tap water?, did you cure the rock?

Don't worry I'm using RO/DI. I got the rock from a guy who had broken down a tank and had it buckets of stagnate water in his basement. Looked great at the time but based on the hair algae I definitely had some die off. Things have turned for the better on that front in the last week or so. I've manually removed some and started running a little purigen and chemipure elite. Feeling pretty good I will get it under control soon. I also could have introduced some phosphates during initial setup ... who knows how clean my brute container from home depot really was despite my best efforts etc.

Could use a hand identifying two growths I've been watching. Both showed up for the first time around the two month mark and the piece of rock they came on already has some macro algae on it I think is Halimeda

Not sure what this one is?? a sponge maybe?

Think this one is Dragon's Breathe or similar algae

I recently found out about the Coral Labs / AB+ profile for my Radion and switched to it. A little bit blue to my eyes but my corals seem very very happy.

Added a new Chaetomax fuge light and some corals recently - trying to clean the tank up a bit as it passes the 1 year mark. More frequent updates to come now that I have a new phone with a nice camera
