-E-
All of my rocks are lifeless except for one. My LFS said it was removed from a tank and dried out for 2-3 months. It has streaks of purple and green coralline. Will that coralline come back to life, or do I need to introduce something new with coralline on it? Sorry if this has been answered in a previous thread. Link to comment
IronChefItaly
You'll have to get another live portion from somewhere to begin seeding your tank. Anything that picks at the rock will help speed things along provided your parameters are healthy. Link to comment
pablom617
I would also consider that their a probably quite a bit of organics dried up in the rock if it has color. These organics can/will lead to algae issues later on. Link to comment
-E-
I'll probably just wait it out. Don't want to buy any magic in a bottle but too afraid to introduce live rock. I guess I can ask for scrapings. Link to comment
Clown79
I prefer liverock to be honest. I take the chance. I used 70%dry and the rest LR. I have gotten a nice variety of good critters. You can get predators from corals and plugs. You will definitely need to seed the tank with coralline. I have tons, unfortunately I'm in cda or I'd give you tons of shavings. Link to comment
SantaMonica
One trick to seeding is to blend someone else's coralline in SW in a blender, then mix it into your tank. Link to comment
