But I keep seeing good things so 🤷♂️ For how simple jagers are, they are kind of expensive. For not that much more I get the control of the swing. I’m impressed so far but I’ve never had a jager fail on me. The control of the Helio is going up against the durability of the jager. Quote Link to comment
Reefkid88
I love my Jager. The one that came with my tank took a dump after a few months. But my new one is still trucking,we shall see. If this one goes out I will try another brand. Quote Link to comment

I did proactively replace them at the 5 year mark just to be safe though. PS. Does anyone know how to program the apex/trident to text me the results of the tests immediately when they’re done? 1 Quote Link to comment
TheKleinReef
I'm seeing some white tips on my SPS. The pessimist in me thinks this is a bad sign, but the optimist in me thinks it's growth! Will bust out macro lens today to determine if its growth or burnt tips. I turned my skimmer basically off and removed the filter socks, so I'm hoping that helps with nitrates. Phosphate is hard stuck 0.06 which i'm not concerned about at all. Quote Link to comment
TheKleinReef
The SPS took a bit of an initial hit when my alk was climbing, but they're doing okay I think. Alk has been pretty dang stable at 8.0-8.1 since last friday. So I'm hopeful. Skimmer is wayyyyy dry now, and no socks. I'm dumping 3 cubes of food in there with no socks. I also realized I have 2 huge bags of Seachem Matrix in the sump, maybe I should take one of those out? Here's my super quick high ISO pics cause I was super lazy. I resisted taking a FTS cause the bubble algae is super ugly 🙂 3 1 Quote Link to comment

Might be due to your zero nitrate issue…don’t think it was the alk 55 minutes ago, TheKleinReef said: welp Food degrade differently, that’s why Reefroid is phos bomb. Isn’t that good tho, that you can get nitrate up now? 1 Quote Link to comment

Acros definitely took a hit from the nitrate journey but along the way alk swung a bit as I was trying to future it out. Probably was a bit of both. yeah goal was to get some nitrates but in doing so I spiked phosphate by 3.8x. Which is odd cause I did plan for that and doubled my gfo. I also only put reefroids in once this whole week. It’s all been mostly rods food. Might tune the skimmer back up a bit lol it hasn’t collected more than like 2mm of gunk all week. TheKleinReef
Lol. I get nitrates naturally through the food increase and my alk still spiked 0___________o im gonna loose it. those two dips I manually corrected with ATI dosing then it held at 8.1 ish for a few days. Then WHAM 8.3 is that a spike. Idk we’ll see at the next trident test I guess Quote Link to comment
TheKleinReef
On second thought that nitrate result might be a fluke. I fed the tank like 10 mins before the test. Which means rods food also has some raw nitrates in it, as the alk spike right away. edit: it gets more interesting. I just ran another trident, alkalinity test, and it was 8.03 did I just witness the spike in alkalinity, and the subsequent decrease or am I vastly overestimating the efficacy of the trident 😅😅😅 1 Quote Link to comment

TheKleinReef
swapped out my filter socks to mesh ones. alk seems to be hovering around 8.1-8.2 how it's not dropping with an entire wall of corraline I have no idea. 1 Quote Link to comment
TheKleinReef
pH is steadily coming up sice adding an airstone in the filter sock chamber. The lowest it is getting too is 8.0, but the peak is only 8.13 3 Quote Link to comment

TheKleinReef
Actually. Alk is climbing. From 7.7 to 8.0 in 3 days. This is so freaking annoying. 1 Quote Link to comment

What helped stabilized it last time? And what changed since last week? You said you had 8 consecutive tests of stable alk, assuming that was twice a day? Quote Link to comment

I’ve been doing the same thing every day since I did that water change and it brought it down to 7.7. Quote Link to comment
TheKleinReef
I think I’m gonna scrap this rock. It’s covered in bubble algae and nothing is getting rid of it. Even 10 emeralds and phosphate of 0.03. this tank is cursed i swear to god 2 Quote Link to comment
banasophia
Are the emeralds eating it at all? Quote Link to comment
