I was the same way when I had my dslr. But after looking, there really isn't too many external skimmers for your size tank. I did find the Deltec 400i which is pretty damn small: https://deltecdirectusa.com/collections/protein-skimmers-internal-protein-skimmers/products/deltec-400i-in-sump-protein-skimmer Quote Link to comment

The external one is rated for 155g. might be easier to plumb in a fuge lol. Quote Link to comment

Oh I know,I was just sharing that since its pretty small for the size skimmer. Shoot a 10g tank, couple pvc pipe/fittings and a nice little return pump and you'd be good,no ? This company has some good cheap baffle options: https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_dkr=1&iconV2Request=true&_blrs=recall_filtering&_ssn=jax.racks&store_cat=0&store_name=jaxracks123&_oac=1&_sop=15&_pgn=2 Quote Link to comment

I could use my manifold and have two drain lines for a herbie super easy. I just don’t have a good place to put a fuge. I really don’t want to put it in the furnace room cause I don’t know how badly the saltwater will mess with the hvac being in the same room. The tank is next to a hallway and up against a minibar too. (Excuse the messy mini bar) Quote Link to comment
TheKleinReef
Alk came down after a 20g water change. before this it was 8.5–8.6 for a solid 24 hours. Before it was climbing every 6 hours so imma chalk this up as it plateauing. Maybe? Who knows. Will update when the next test occurs. If alk goes up imma lose it. 1 Quote Link to comment
Reefkid88
Depending on fuge size,it should not mess with your hvac. Do you have gas at all ? That would be my only concern. I would assume because you already have a nice sized sump, your fuge won't be super big. Quote Link to comment
mitten_reef
your nitrate tests have been showing up at zero or near zero...why are you thinking about a bigger skimmer and a fuge? Quote Link to comment

It is, but to be fair it's super quiet compared to other ac skimmer pumps i've tried (sicce and bubble magus). I could have sworn the varios skimmer pumps were a direct upgrade, but their product page only shows the 2s fitting the int and classic int models. Quote Link to comment

So I don’t have to run my skimmer as much or at the same rate. I think it’s stripping water. Also pH boost. I’m trying to get away from skimmer reliance cause I think this skimmer is working against me. I don’t want a bigger skimmer. I want an external skimmer of the same size or smaller to make room for a fuge. Quote Link to comment

I did just watch the BRS video about the DC pumps you can get to upgrade DC skimmers but I don’t wanna buy an ac skimmer just to upgrade it immediately to DC. im also a gear junkie. So there’s that 😅 35 minutes ago, Reefkid88 said: Depending on fuge size,it should not mess with your hvac. Do you have gas at all ? That would be my only concern. Reefkid88
Hmmm, how big in the room or is it in a basement ? Quote Link to comment

Reefkid88
I mean really it should be fine. All your gas stuff is vented or at least should be so if fumes/gases haven't killed you,a fuge should certainly be fine. Quote Link to comment

I’m more worried about the hvac sucking in salty air and just rusting everything. Quote Link to comment

What size fuge are you thinking of running though ? If its 20g or less I would not worried about that. But if you are THAT worried about it,just run a lid 🤷♂️ Quote Link to comment

I could use one of my manifold lines to run to the fuge. I don't wanna go too big cause i don't feel like up grading my return pump. Quote Link to comment
Reefkid88
Well how this, are you solely just wanting a fuge for macro's and all that or have you looked into the IceCap HOB algae scrubber ? Save some money and eliminating having to have a remote fuge, also pumps and material. https://www.bulkreefsupply.com/algae-scrubber-pro-hang-on-6-watt-icecap.html https://www.bulkreefsupply.com/algae-scrubber-pro-small-14-watt-icecap.html Quote Link to comment
