Now that I have a fan on the sump, ato water is going faster. Time to set up a water station. 20180903_222725.thumb.jpg.07de617e77ee3694377752df2e185b54.jpg

My auto shut off for the ro pump was shot and replaced. Now float valve will kill pump. BRS sending me auto flush valve hope to have it soon. A screw in PVC hose bib is coming first thing in the morning hopefully so I can fire this up. Hoping the threads for it match standard PVC hardware. Otherwise its janky PVC valve.

.....and nothing.....nothing I've found will seal that dam bulk head. The top is too small to get anything thru to use the nut. The hole I cut is small enough it threaded with the bulk head. Nothing I can find will stick to the blue plastic. Used a ton of silicon and it still leaked through. Tried PVC glue and it wont bond with the plastic. 🤬

So its 0230 here in las vegas.....I just cleaned 20 gallons  of water from the floor..... woke at 0100 and heard the pump. I had just filled the 7gal ato earlier in evening......so that added to the problem. Good thing is the rodi water went on the floor not the display tank. So salinity should be good.

The fitting on the return line at the pump broke.20180917_020425.thumb.jpg.1e690e1e0fa3b660f68bf0c0e9ac70aa.jpg

Nothing to do now. The return line is proprietary to red sea and I've no idea now what to do until LFS open at 1000am. Everything on red sea is metric......i had a hell of a time plumbing it over to standard. I'm hoping the red sea circulation pumps keep everything alive until then. Keeping skimmer going for aeration of the sump for bacteria. Hoping this is not a death blow the the aquarium.

Going back to bed and worry about repair when my wife wakes for work.

I had a hard time plumbing the red sea due to metric vs standard. The tubing supplied and the fitting to the top of the return line would not fit anything available so the lfs came up with putting the green hose inside a larger hose piece to connect to return pump. At MACNA I bought a random flow generator with dual lock lines. Having dual lines seemed to drop flow rate so I cranked up the pump......20180917_072738.thumb.jpg.65124edc02a2e35efa429d2cb4cadbc2.jpg

At his recomendations I used silicone.....two years later under new pressure it popped. Google says Jb weld is safe after cure....

So an opportunity has arisen.....

LFS  a MACNA dry display. It would mean the end of the red sea....120 gallons and no longer even close to a nano reef....FB_IMG_1537219135600.thumb.jpg.c9651bfee61dbd5def2815baf788c6cd.jpg

For 1000, I'd get tank, stand and hood. Another 2000 on the high end for hydra 26s, plumbing etc. Ugh. I love my red sea but I made s mistake when I bought Fiji. He really needs a larger tank. And I'd like more room for coral.....ugh

Just now, teenyreef said:

Ohhhhh dang sorry to hear about the return line problem. But that would be a really sweet upgrade.

Btw, we do have a large tank forum here on N-R

Ya I was worried I'll be kicked off and sent to another reef site lol

Well this appears to be the twilight of of the red sea in the Mojave. That was fast. Just guessing but...I dont think a manufacturer would put someone else sticker on their tank......20180917_192611.thumb.jpg.32a32babacf9b41e4b5ea4f90946d5ae.jpg

What a wonderful ride this has been. I'm so sad to put an end to my beautiful aquarium but it's also the birth of a new reef that will give Fiji more cruising room. I think I have the full scenario in my head ready to go, water all made, inventory of buckets complete, fish capture plan inplace...... going to be a long day tomorrow but it will be worth it.....

Final preparations are ongoing for tomorrow's big move. 84 gallons of fresh salt water ready to go aerating again over night. 12 5gal buckets, one cooler for fish, 2 totes for lr and coral...20180929_182054.thumb.jpg.787d95d1cf53616c8ad33ff84067fd65.jpg
