I usually just don’t have the time to sit around waiting for them to observe them opening up, whether for pictures or to feed meaty food. 😂 app and meal. I put a lot of reef roid to be the meal itself. Yeah I feed mine at night... it’s a lengthy process takes about 2 hours due to serving them seconds. My reef likes a leisurely meal, no fast food. 😜 Sounds like the lounge in here... how ya’ll doin? 🤗 I gotta start my little chat thread back up, been too busy lately to keep it going, but hoping to have more free time after Christmas. 🤞🤞🤞 2 Quote Link to comment

banasophia
Oh yeah... if you are able to add a little lamp right next to your tank it can help with seeing and photographing the suns when the blues are on or all the lights are out... I think it could work well for the black suns so they’ll show up more. 2 Quote Link to comment
mitten_reef
After a 4-day trip: Got home, ate dinner, checked on the tank. the glass looks like crap but corals are happy and bright, so had to grab a couple of top down shots. left side Right side 6 Quote Link to comment

second_decimal
I don’t recall, do you use orange filter? I just picked up an orange lens for Nikon but I’m still not really happy with the results. Quote Link to comment

The setting is very heavy on white in real life to help compensate for the blue. You have Nanobox, don’t you? My current light setting for photo mode using iPhone11 is 90% on color channels, and 100% on white and mint channels. that’s exactly how I took the above pics, no edit, no filter. Of course now I have to figure out all over again what the photo mode settings were for the real camera 😄. 1 Quote Link to comment

Not sure how to do with them fruit phones. But with your Nikon mess with the custom white setting until your tank looks proper color on the screen 🙂 I used to use Nikon but I moved to a mirror less setup. Lumix GX85. 2 Quote Link to comment
mitten_reef
@SpencerShepard, been seeing you’re active, so I got a question. I’ve noticed lately that the cloud and moon features are not functioning as they used to - no fading in/out during the day and no day-to-day dimming at night. Anyone else reported on this, or do you have any thoughts what might be going on with my setup? I’m using default Cairns, AUS weather. Quote Link to comment
mitten_reef
@spectra and @StinkyBunny and @thecoralbeauty how do I handle a maxima clam out of water? Is that even OK? Thinking about glueing the acro colonies to my main rock. The problem is, the clam is happily attached to it at this point. I could try to work around it inside the tank, but outside the tank would be much easier. Quote Link to comment

If me I would probably just deal with it in the water and not chance pissing off the clam......... 1 Quote Link to comment

mitten_reef
Reserve for a year-over-year comparison Jan 2, 2019 It occured to me that my tank looks ABSOLUTELY nothing like it used to back at the beginning of last year. Both large scape rocks are gone. SunnyD mound is gone. BTA walked into a powerhead. The center acro colony had grown a LOT, see its topdown above. 4 Quote Link to comment

Low key I think it looks better 😂 The past year you turned your DT into a frag tank 😜 1 Quote Link to comment

The transition from the monti’s really took a big toll on tank aesthetic. I really struggle at how disorganized it’s been of late. That why I rarely bother to get out the actual camera. 2 Quote Link to comment

I’m still planning on getting a second one for the opposite side. 1 Quote Link to comment

I'm thinking about hooking up my other aqamai kps. I just have the one right now, but feel a second close to the bottom of the tank to stir shit up down there 🤔 1 Quote Link to comment

If you have a power head sitting around, try that to see how the corals like it before spending $$ on another kps. 1 Quote Link to comment
