I really thought you were referring to Mr T from the A team, but then couldn't quite connect the dots. sh*t I even googled to see if it was an actual product....😂 as far as the coralline on the back wall, they're ok for now 😄. I do like the black background when it's all nice and clean, but who are we kidding. It's too hard to get in there and scrape without knocking something loose and breaking something. I'm one of the laziest nano reefers I know, I think my last water change and glass scraping was around two weeks ago. 20 minutes ago, Dirté Sanchez said: I mean I remember but I don’t see the connection? right? 3 Quote Link to comment
mitten_reef
This cali tort has gone thru a lot with me, very well could be my longest-living acros in the tank right now. It had grown so big it went thru water surface during water change at one point. Then, started STN, had to chop it all down. Finally, it’s ready to take off once again. 6 Quote Link to comment
mitten_reef
added the topdown of the Cali tort in the above post. next up: Here are various angles of the main PC rainbow piece, along with the one that will eventually be the frag-cut piece. And yes that one actually is growing crazy just sitting on the tank floor. 5 2 Quote Link to comment
mitten_reef
A quick recap of the ENTIRE ricordea garden. Upon reviewing the full tank shot, this is more like a ric mountain. topdown: and the angled front view from where I normally sit in front of the tank: 5 2 Quote Link to comment
mitten_reef
Here are most of my zoas collection, I believe the only one missing I’m missing is the utter chaos. Oh, there’s also a small frag of rastas somewhere, sold the big colony to the LFS to fund my gold torch purchase, win-win. zoa garden top down: there are scrambled egg, rastas, blondie (blue eyed blonde), and fruit loop on this mound. Front view sunny D mound: still not enough orange coming in IMO. We’ll see now that the frag rack is moved from being right over this, whether it’ll brighten up. Here are how the zoas look about a year ago. Oh and that was one of the giant chunks of the Cali tort that had to be fragged due to STN mentioned on the cali tort post earlier. 9 Quote Link to comment

debbeach13
Been awhile since I have checked in on this thread. The tank looks fantastic! I love the ricordea and zoa gardens. I am a softy - LPS lover because I don’t test much and only occasionally add A and B supplement. I should change my name to lazy reefer. Again beautiful tank. 1 1 1 Quote Link to comment

Mine has been growing ok, not as fast as others they’re also having the most boring colors of all my zoas. the sparkly pattern just isn’t there for some reasons - the pattern faded away the same time the sunnyD went brown. So hopefully now that I solved the sunnyD problem, this one will eventually bounced back too. 2 Quote Link to comment
mitten_reef
Shifting gear to a couple of my acan’s, didn’t get many good topdown shots. But here they are. I think this is an almost perfect acan, got the stripes, the bright mouth, and multi-color flesh. Here’s another one: 7 1 Quote Link to comment
Matteo
some solid acans. My favias and acans are still pissed from the rescape and everything else but hopefully they all puff up soon. I notice that they are pretty touchy in my tank 1 Quote Link to comment

I’ve gone thru at least half a dozen frags before finding these two. There is the third acan that I couldn’t quite get a good pic of. and here is my green slimer going thru a serious growth spurt. 6 Quote Link to comment

Isn’t it weird how one coral or another does well for a particular person but not for others? I seem to do well with acans and zoas but struggle with the SPS. So far only the Millie and poccillopora are doing well for me. 1 Quote Link to comment

I hear ya, many corals are very specifics on things they like about certain tank, or don’t like however you see it. Millies actually have been the hardest for me, can’t quite get the polyp extension that they’re know for in my tank. 28 minutes ago, mitten_reef said: I’ve gone thru at least half a dozen frags before finding these two. The third one showed some promising signs, even though it’s not a true stunner on its own yet. This is usually how I go about trying new type of corals. I’d buy cheap frags, grow them up, if the colors are nice And they’re alive, they’re kept. Otherwise, they’re back to LFS. 1 Quote Link to comment

I’m not positive either of mine will do that, not that I have anything worth selling or trading yet. 2 Quote Link to comment
Cannedfish
Welp, I did it. I caught up on your thread... 40 pages worth. Anyways, after investing that much time, I did want any sensible person would do, I took notes! • I like the bare bottom, your tank's bare bottom, specifically, love the zoa fields... I can't wait till they fill in. • Not a huge fan of gonis, but your red one... kinda makes me tingle in that place... you know that place... my wallet. • N-R stickers... N-R tee shirt... @Christopher Marks, who's leg do I have to.... err ....compliment to get some N-R swag? • I glad you have let the dark side consume you... the dark side obviously being the acro side... revel in their power!! • We need more Charlie. Unleash the hound!! • Classic acros are great... don't get me wrong, as you know, the OT gets my jollies off... but to deny the sheer majesty of the WD, SCOP, or cherry bomb... hogwash I say!! Hogwash! • Clams = love. • I am super super jealous of your gold torch... damnit! Now, I want one.... • Look, its time to acknowledge you're an adult. You should probably have a bank account. It's no longer appropriate to hang unframed posters on your walls. Keep a $100 bill in your wallet for emergencies. It's time. It's time to throw up tee shirts from your senior year in high school, and take down the frag racks..... • The montipora on your tank floor looks like what I imagine donuts look like on acid. Overall, the tank has come a long way and looks awesome! I'm going to go take a nap after that herculean effort. 1 4 Quote Link to comment
mitten_reef
@Cannedfish, Your fantastic notes deserve a one-by-one response: • I like the bare bottom, your tank's bare bottom, specifically, love the zoa fields... I can't wait till they fill in. >> Bare bottom came out of necessities-ish, had "ball" algae and spaghetti worm infestation, that required sucking out part of sand bed. It went on until I had very little sand that it made no sense to even leave it in. Zoas cover is just an oversight on the overgrown zoas, now they're there. and likely too much PITA to remove. • Not a huge fan of gonis, but your red one... kinda makes me tingle in that place... you know that place... my wallet. >> 😂 then you must look up the amazeball goni, your wallet will love you even more • N-R stickers... N-R tee shirt... @Christopher Marks, who's leg do I have to.... err ....compliment to get some N-R swag? >> I participated in NR events in the past year that won me some swags - you know those events that you weren't here to beat me to the prize • I glad you have let the dark side consume you... the dark side obviously being the acro side... revel in their power!! >> Always loved acros, mainly being "patient" in trying to make sure my lazy-reefing style can keep them going/growing long-term. • We need more Charlie. Unleash the hound!! >> he looks a little goofy right now due to his cone of shame (seasonal allergy hits him bad, we're trying to make sure he doesn't destroy his coat this year) here's my COVID officemate a month ago. • Classic acros are great... don't get me wrong, as you know, the OT gets my jollies off... but to deny the sheer majesty of the WD, SCOP, or cherry bomb... hogwash I say!! Hogwash! >> see, those are what I called "The new classics" vs the "OG". Already have SCOP, I'm looking out for WD, JF Fox Flame. I must say cherry bomb is very nice looking in-person, spotted a few at the last swap. • Clams = love. >> right, I need at least two more. But I have to evict the dwarf angel first. • I am super super jealous of your gold torch... damnit! Now, I want one.... >> yeah, that's a long time coming, well worth the wait. >> I'm almost done with it. someone needs to take some frags off my hands. • The montipora on your tank floor looks like what I imagine donuts look like on acid. >> you know what? maybe that's why they called it "RMF Acid Trip Millie", literally the same color combo in acro format. You're on to something. 4 Quote Link to comment
