Ranjib
tank is doing good. I’m trimming most corals for my other pico tank. The red dragon is growing fastest among all the corals. I have switched from two parts to sodium biocarbonate based alk dosing to keep ph stable FTS Left side view Right side view.. our apartment entry 🙂 . Kids love it. Gonipora still doing ok. It gets stung by acan and all other neighbors :0-( . It was badly damages thrice. The cyphastrea continued to cover glass bottom. Wife likes it most,. I broke a forest fire branch during last water change 😞 The green slimer has grown huge but I ruthlessly trim it every week. Red dragon is catching up. Thats all for now.. off to some 3d printing 🙂 1 1 Quote Link to comment
Ranjib
Current fts red dragon is continuing its growth spurt. Some closeups Goni, I’m not happy with its growth , but also don’t want to invest in spot feeding , and theres not much real estate left, and she is super sensitive, loses to most aggressive corals next , Got rid of the fast growing bambam colony to give my blue lepto a chance I think the grandis does not like high alk, some of them are closed up for couple days , 2 Quote Link to comment

I think the pendant style light source is limiting my sps spread. But I can wait , it’s just shy 4 years 🙂 1 Quote Link to comment
Ranjib
Couple of weeks before I decided to improve the light situation. Right the only kessil a360 is good for the sps on top , but bad for everything else due to serious shadow effect . i had bought noopsyche k2 during Orlando rap, to address this , so finally hooked it up. used a makerbeam based fixture to mount the lights. I designed and 3D printed a small contraption to nearly situate the fixture in top of biocube rim 3D printed contraptions , they have 10x10mm square holes for the makerbeams rest is fine. Corals are doing ok. Red dragon is still growing crazy . effect of the new light is yet to be realized. I like the slight purple , 4 Quote Link to comment
Ranjib
I am thinking of changing my tank. It’s running for 4 years now and I’m relatively happy with it. But the curved front is a big problem for taking photos, and the rims will take a lot of work to get rid of. I’m thinking whether to go for 50g with sump version or smaller cube or other aio options. My current choice of vendors are water box and Red Sea . Any advices ? Quote Link to comment
seabass
I haven't really looked into it. I might add the IM Nuvo EXT 50 Lagoon just because people seem to like IM. 1 Quote Link to comment
Ranjib
Current state of affairs FTS Side view: SPS growth continues, not as wild as it used to be. ... alk is stable at 7.2-7.8 . I intend to ramp it up to 8-9 in next three months (more on that later) Red dragon was chipped accidentally during water change. It has regrown quiet a bit since than The other acro is now showing more color. I think some of the pop is due to elevated purple in noopsyche k7 pro I have removed one other acro and regrafted it. Rainbow monti was slowly killing it off Lepto remains same, and probably has some recession at the border. I think this is due to steady increase in alk level, but we'll see. Tank is bit neglected in recent time due to impending home migration The other blue lepto has grown more On the bottom Gonipora is doing as usual. I think the mummy eye challice is stinging, it has grown back Acan and zoa island Grandis island Six line wrasse 🙂 Im planning to upgrade the tank , not sure which one , as part of home change (in two weeks) 1 Quote Link to comment

Ranjib
Apologies for the long absence. Life has been tremendously hectic past few months . i bought a house right before the pandemic started and got very busy with all sorts of things. Have not been able to take care of the tank nearly as much and also lost a whole lotta spa during the move. It was not the transfer process, but not following proper acclimation is what killed most of my acros. Lesson learned . Current state of the tank : most original corals including that softies, lps and some sps is still there. Majority of my loss was in the volume of sps. Green slider, red dragon etc that were mini colony earlier are now reduced to a single stick at best. Got algae also. but , I’m slowly able to get back to the regular tank chores. New tank is still planned but waiting for some plumbing works to get done before this, I don’t know when, but sometime before mid next year . 1 Quote Link to comment
