I really like how your pics show the natural colors of your corals (versus a highly offset blue white balance).  The tank is looking good!

I am using an app called camera + , on iPhone which gives me some control over exposure and white balance. Something I learned very recently

i don’t plan to add anything new , unless I find something very specific , suitable for the exact locations that are empty . Meanwhile most of my time now spend in testing  water, weekly maintenance and reef-pi development. I am planning to make a 1.0 release around x-mas.

My Miami Hurricane challlice is growing faster than I would like , probably time to trim it. Funny thing is it’s pretty common at local frag swap as well, so I might just throw off the trimmed parts

24474306928_8d47528770_b.jpg

but I love how the t encrusted the rock. Unlike other corals , this one creates a rather thin layer, so the actual rocks texture is kinda preserved:-)

on the zoa island I am noticing bam bam and purple death already fighting over space. I hope they both grow in other direction,

my only rock anemone has attached himself perpendicular, making it rather hard for me to feed him. As of now he is doing ok. But I am concerned about his health in the long run

A rock flower anemone really doesn't need to be target fed.  It's a no worries anemone.  Whatever stray food it can catch will be enough.

I'm loving the progress!  Great job!

Was busy with reef-pi 1.0 release for past few weeks, now thats past, time to update journal logs, pics :-)

Tank is doing ok. I have slowed down spot feeding  (reef roid, oyester feast). I want to think through what I really want in the long run. Otherwise its almost always one fast grower taking over rest on one region.

I tear off my birdnest (green pociliopora, not the pointy finger type seriatopora ) from top. Not only it was outgrowing the other sps on top, it was causing lot of shades doewn below, where all my euphylia, bubble is present. Kessil being a360, being a pendant source made that worse.

WC and dosing regiment (only two parts) remained same. The milipora (addes 1.5 month back) showing some tiny polyp extension. Rest of the older sps (green slimer, the tenius, orange digitata, couple of other encrusting monti) all are doing well, as in growing. Digitata is growing faster than all, next the purple stylophora. Depending upon how aggressive they get, I'll trim one of them next , probably in 2-3 months.

Red dragon has hardly grown, I can only see little bit more encrusting than before.. I am just happy that it made it.. Before dosing regiment, i had lost couple of hard to keep sticks. Bubble gum monti is also not growing as fast as the orange digitata. I also think my slowed down spot feeding is a factor. Now, that the birdnest is gone and I have nuked most of the liam's clove (I still see polyps peeking from different crevices.. but no more large colonies), I may start regular spot feeding soon.

Tank is doing ok. I am focusing on sps growth currently. Most beginner sps are growing, moderately hard to keep sps are doing ok, and some of the harder acros are just making it there (new t dying or tissue recessions, and some polyp extension but no visible growth)

apologies for for the poor picture quality , still learning how to use the macro lens

The zoa island is my favorite!

You have to use a feature called "color temperature" or "white balance" to fix the blue issue. Different app provides it in a different fashion. Inside the Camera+ app ( i use the 2.5$ paid version) its under Labs -> Temperature. You can also use GIMP, which is free, and works on computers, not  on phone. In GIMP its under Colors -> Levels.

If you use macbook, then you can also use the "Preview" app which is the default image viewer. In "Preview", its under Tools -> Adjust colors -> Temperature.

Let me know if you need any help.

The macro shots are taken with a 75$ olloclip lens, and then post processed for temperature correction (fix the blue) in camera+

@Ranjib Thank you kindly for your help and your multiple suggestions.  After upgrading my iPhone app, I was able to produce a halfway decent pic but I'm guessing since my tank is nothing but white on white on black, theres not much to capture thats contrasting.

So Labs > Temperature for post shot tweaking the color temperature.  Do you play with the features that are available when taking the picture such as iso, exposure or white balance?  im a complete camera novice   seems like theres a balance to be made with those live camera options and then you warm it up after for a perfect picture.
