So, I got the sensor. Super easy. Just hooked up to a digital pin on the arduino and read it. Look at the orange LED on the arduino. I am testing this with a glass of saltwater from my tank.

Hi all,

 

Sorry about the lack of updates -- Life got busy and the tank wasn't doing great for a while, high nitrates, lost three ric frags...

 

But then everything got better! After several deep cleanings and lots of water changes, my tank finally stabilized just in time to attend RAP with our very own HarryPotter! He helped me pick out some awesome frags, and everything is doing very well so far.
