IM Nuvo Lagoon 25 Owners Thread

This "little" tank has captured my attention from the very first moment I saw it. With unique shallow dimensions and craftsmanship only IM can deliver.

Trying to find user information and user experiences on this thank has taken me to different scattered places so I thought I would create this thread so we can all share our experiences, tips and tricks.

I am just starting to put mine together so will share my setup asap. Already I am finding the cramped back space (not complaining - more space for DT...) challenging.

I'm still setting up and just started cycling mine. I have noticed the black backing they put on it is falling apart in the corners and I already cut an opening in it for one of my chambers to grow macro.

I do notice that the glass is too thick for my IM reactor brackets, no big deal I am changing to a BRS reactor for other reasons. I do wish the chambers were a little bigger to support the midsize ghost skimmer which is rated to this tanks capacity but doesn't fit. I did order a desktop size only because my midsize ghost was working so well. I am going to be running duel filter socks. They worked wondering in keeping water crystal clean thus far. I am a huge fan of the duel overflow and duel returns.

NaJay, how does the media reactor bracket "not" fit the glass?

can you post a tank pic please?

pgr, been watching your posts too... good stuff

what would you suggest in the reactor... will run it for a while before the skimmer

I would run carbon and some people like to add a little gfo in with it. That's what I did in my old tank.

I was amazed to see so many people had already adopted this tank in a relatively short time since their release. I finished building the stand for mine over the weekend and just added water to it yseterday to start the cycle. Looks like I'm locked in now.

I was going back and forth on the skimmer, but decided to start with the Hydor Slim Skim Nano that I have running in the tank I will be breaking down once this one cycles, but I will have to run it in the display as it is just a little bit too wide for the back chambers. The height is about the same between the tanks (old is a 20L), so I think i should be fine there since I'm planning to run this Bare Bottom. I already have the IM media reactor in one of the back chambers, just need the Smart Micro ATO and a some light.

I have seen some really nice work on these tanks from you all so far, and I'm hoping mine can look even half as good.

Get a reef octopus ns80 from marine depot,$43,fits in the skimmer spot, and,it's a reef octopus

Just remove the bracket so it fits and it'll skim and fit like a champ

I saw your results with that skimmer on your thread, and that's on the short list if the Hydor doesn't work out like I hope. I have been using my skimmer for close to 2 years now, and picked it because despite having to put in the dispaly, it's almost unnoticable in my 20, and should be even more so in this tank in the middle of the back wall.... I hope :D

I did that with the tunze 9001 in my nano cube 28 it was suprisingly hidden well.

Is any of u using a tunze 9004 ? I mean will it even fit?

the 9001 will fit in the middle if you mod the lines

ordering a media reactor now... that's next

Not sure what kind of mod is this' mod the lines'. Is there a link which explains the mod.

just ordered from Stevie

the 9001, and went with 2 Eheim 600's to avoid all the T's and have the backup pump.

i'll probably make a stand/holder instead of moving the magnet.. will post

I thought about doing the 9001 as well, but scrapped that idea when the RMS mount for the Radion sticks out too far. Going skimmerless and actually never had a tank so clean with just weekly 5 gal water changes.

Im thinking of making a cover for my tank like this one on the new red sea e series to hide all the equipment and wires.

Their e-170 is 24 inches so it just might fit.

I typically overfeed.. I think with a mandarin and seahorses, food needs to be in the tank a while

What do you guys think about replacing the stock pump with two stronger pumps then using the Hydor Smartwave controller on them instead of a powerhead in the DT. Can these kind of pumps withstand the constant on/off switching?
