Sancho
The UV sterilizer and H2O2 dosing seem to be working against the dino's. I have also seen no bubble algae since the sterilizer was installed. I manually removed as much of the blown slimy bubbly snot and as much of the bubble algae I could before I installed the sterilizer. Cleaning the glass has been a daily chore in the last few months. After UV sterilizer its been a week since I scrapped the glass. Some of the dino's are still there but they appear to not be spreading. They have turned almost a grey color and seem to be dying. The long brown snot like bubbly shit hasnt been seen in a week. Here are a few shitty Iphone pics. FTS Cheap Zoas on a DONG! Acans 4 Quote Link to comment

Sancho
So the wife and kids went out for ice cream. I am bored its either internet porn or nano reefs. So I thought I would kinda update this thread. I am so happy I bought a UV sterilizer. I stopped dosing H2o2 last week. Bubble algae is completely gone. The dinos are gone. Had some GHA appear while this was happening. I suspect the rock is leaching phosphates. I could be wrong. I tossed the bag of phosgaurd in bought a bunch o turbo snails. GHA is almost gone. Now the ####ing Aiptaisia decides to come back with a vengeance. Although I cant complian 3 months ago dinos were comming back caught it early this time and tried a different approach. Seems to have worked. Now I just need a high power laser to kill this ####ing aiptaisia. this rock was covered in Dinos a few months ago. Really photobucket goes down right now? Someone needs to knock that cat off the couch. I guess its back to internet porn will post some pics when photobucket is working. Quote Link to comment

Funny mixture or being super stoked for it and being real nervous about it. Let me know if you can't get it local. All I'm using it for is burning people's back of their arms when they aren't paying attention. 5 Quote Link to comment

Let me know if you can't get it local. All I'm using it for is burning people's back of their arms when they aren't paying attention. I feel ya. When I accepted my current job I was super stoked and also super super nervous. I thought for sure they would call me out for being a hack. Apparently I am not a hack and the interview process is in place to weed out the hacks. My wife told me that I under estimate myself. So be it...I enjoy my new job my supervisors are happy with my performance and i honestly cant be happier. i wish you all the best in your new endeavor. As for burning people with the laser that sounds fantastic. We have neighbors that let their dogs shit in front of my place and dont pick it up. It would make me happy to give them laser induced melanoma 5 Quote Link to comment
Sancho
Since the dino's have gone I bought some new corals. I got some shrooms and zoas from Glenn. 1 shroom didnt make it and the other looks like shit with my iphone. I dont feel like getting the DSLR out. But It is a nice looking shroom. The zoas look like a bowl of fruit loops. I love all the different colors in this chunk. I count 6 different types of zoas on this rock. Glenn will make the DOA right I hate Facebook auctions but Glenn has some nice stuff and is a stand up guy. This rock was completely covered in Dinos a few weeks ago The GSP I am always trying to kill is branching I might have to get the DSLR out for this one Iphone pic sucks compared to what this looks like heres the good half of the tank Aiptaisia has replaced the Dinos Oh and this bitch 4 Quote Link to comment
Sharbuckle
Great clown pic. Miss my tomatoes. Glad to see you nipped the problem in the ass. Love seeing established tanks do well. Quote Link to comment
Sancho
So after almost 20 years of using NSW I made the switch to mixing my own water. Scripps has been a great free resource but as of lately there are more and more commercial trucks filling up, long lines, missing hose, weird closures. Made the trip down last week and a tanker truck was filling up. I didnt feel like waiting. The other spot that sells NSW was closed. So #### it. I made the trip to the LFS, and Home Depot. 3 Quote Link to comment
Sancho
I hate to admit it as I have been a proponent of using NSW. But everything in my tank looks way better since the switch. It had been awhile since my last W/C so I did a large 75% change in the 34 and my regular 90% in the 8. Still no signs of the Dinos no bubble algae, and the little GHA was quickly eaten up by the new Mexican turbo snails. $0.60 each from reefers garage. Still battling the aiptaisia My nem split and they have pretty much settled in about the spot it was originally in. Got another lobo, shroom and some acans from ASD last week. FTS 6/5/16 2 nems New stuffs [/url] 5 Quote Link to comment
Dramad1
Nice, your tank is looking great. What salt did you end up going with? Quote Link to comment
Sancho
Nice, your tank is looking great. What salt did you end up going with? thanks man! You got clownfish babies yet? I just went with IO Reef Crystals. It was on sale and I don't have any sps so paying double for another brand seemed silly. It may be hard to tell from the pics but I saw an improvement next day. Starting to wonder if some of my issues were caused by scripps water. I have used it for 20 years but I wonder if red tides or some of the crap in our local water caused both my Dino outbreaks. Hard to say but I am pleased with the switch 2 Quote Link to comment
Dramad1
Sweet, I agree on not spending double on salt. I ran rc for a while and it seemed to work well, I switched back to red Sea and seen a better improvement in corals. Well we shall see what scripts has in store soon, hopefully. After Brandon gets the test results back from triton. I'm curious what they reveal. Clown set up still under the knife. My pair have been performing there mating dance daily. Im almost ready. I need to start the plumbing up and source out a skimmer and rotiFer culture. Tanks are Drilled and plumbing is in hand. Just need some time to get it all together. 1 Quote Link to comment

gena
So a UV sterilizer can wipe out bubble algae? Quote Link to comment
Sancho
So a UV sterilizer can wipe out bubble algae?i manually removed most of it. But I haven't had any since using the sterilizer. If anything its keeping new outbreaks at bay 1 Quote Link to comment
gena
i manually removed most of it. But I haven't had any since using the sterilizer. If anything its keeping new outbreaks at bay Makes sense....any spores are wiped out by the the UV sterilizer. I'm able to keep mine under control with manual removal but I don't have a way to kill the spores. I don't really want to mess with UV though. Quote Link to comment
