Right?! They are sooooo incredibly easy and cool!聽

yeah, I don鈥檛 really see myself retiring them unless I move or something. My interest in reefing varies,聽but maintenance is so easy that I 聽can聽keep them going even if I鈥檓 not feeling all that enthusiastic about coral at a given time. That鈥檚 the beauty of vase/bowl/jar reefs!

Incredible thread to聽read through. Ive been reading through it since Monday. Definitely seems like a fun extra project and since it鈥檚 a bowl it doesn鈥檛 count as Multi聽Tank聽Syndrome right?

Don't tell anyone but I'm actually thinking about moving my recent 2.5 gal pico contest tank聽into my bowl because I miss it so much.聽 Just gotta figure out how to reconfigure the scape first.聽

Try giving聽a thin slice of blanched zucchini聽 to the Opae.聽 Mine聽love it.聽 Because the Opae聽scrape to get聽their food聽the聽zuchini doesn't foul the water and is easy to remove.

Wow. Things are looking even more amazing. I love that the heads of the figures are still visible.

What are your thoughts on the bowl as an art piece at this time? Has the direction changed at all?

@Tempestas聽I like聽that the heads are still visible too. it鈥檚 progressing pretty much as I imagined...two of the figures are almost completely covered in montipora and basically unrecognizable. They鈥檝e been reclaimed by nature and the monti is now starting to cover a third figure. Is it nature, is it art, is it a little bit of both, I don鈥檛 know but I love it!

Amen! My pico reef jar is going strong with coral growth, despite an occasional month or two聽of neglect.

What kind of cleanup crew do you have in them these days? I'm looking to add some more snails to my reef jar soon, curious what types you've had success with long term.

thanks 馃檪聽my cleanup crew is all聽trochus snails all the time. They live for years and do a great job removing biofilm.聽

thanks 馃檪聽I鈥檓 still feeding once a week with a variety of different coral聽feeds, then doing a 90-100% water change 3-4 days later, during which i treat any nuisance algae with peroxide,聽trim corals,聽etc. it鈥檚 still pretty low maintenance.
