Davidwissman85 Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 I think one of my shrimp decided it wanted to bear children, what's a way to go about not losing them all in your tank? Should I get a breeder box, and just put her in it?
Davidwissman85 Posted January 29, 2016 Author Posted January 29, 2016 Here a picture of her tail. Very much so a darker area that the other shrimp, also its tail legs are completely tucked in, while I the other ones tail legs are visible, and it uses them to swim around, unlike the one pictured here.
cruiZe Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 looks about right... look at page 3 of my 15g tank thread... mine did that and it was sooooo cool. Fish and corals ate them all, I don't know any way to save them

Should I get a breeder box, and just put her in it? Both of mine breed/spawn continuously. The shrimp change sex, so both should have eggs and spawn continuously for you In my tank, they will each hatch eggs about 10-12 days, so I have some releasing eggs every week. I have not attempted to raise them as from all the research I've found, they are very hard to actually raise. I did have a LFS offer to buy the fry as they want to raise them, but I haven't gotten around to trying to scoop some out yet to bring in. right now, the fish and corals get a fun snack once a week
Davidwissman85 Posted January 29, 2016 Author Posted January 29, 2016 I'm thinking of getting a fine mesh breeder cage that sets in the tank, and putting a peice of live rock in it for them to use. Then feed them......

Then feed them...... I think you need a constant supply of rotifers. I'm looking forward to seeing how it works for you! If you turn all your pumps off when they hatch, they'll all congregate at the top of the water and you can scoop them right out with a cup.
Davidwissman85 Posted January 31, 2016 Author Posted January 31, 2016 Well. She spread them into the water today, before I could prepare for anything.. Ha-ha I think I'll set up a tank just for it.I am very curious in shrimp breeding. I'll keep this going as time goes on.... I think you need a constant supply of rotifers.
