my florida live rock had these living in or on the rock: urchins, snails, crabs, brittle stars, corals, feather dusters, spaghetti worms, bristle worms, other unidentified worms, sponges, mussels, tunicates. what's really cool is watching for what pops up next!

luckily the only bad hitchhikers so far are the pencil urchins that i banished to the lfs. the rock boring urchin is still hanging around 'til i get my fo tank water params right.

i thought that they would die but my tank just got done cycling and i found some feather dusters that came out after the process so i don't know. I'm sure corals would live! But you need some live rock to kick off the cycle.

i did a "soft" cycle with mine. 6 hrs. lighting and water changes when the ammonia reached 1 ppm. this will prolong the process but goes a long way to preserving life. it also requires at least an equal amount of ro/di & salt mix circulating of the size of your tank for water changes. i used a rubber maid container to do this.
