JacksonEc
Everything seems to be going fine the water is crystal clear. The clown looks to be doing fine except he is swimming up against the glass back and fourth. Any answers to what that might be? And any more tips live rock doing good and what looks like crushed coral as bottom is also doing good! Thanks. Link to comment
pgrVII
Really you need to test the water to see if it's good, a visual check isn't going to cut it in a tank that new. And that clown really should be returned to be honest. Clowns tend to bumble around when they swim. Remember you can't see ammonia or nitrites or nitrates. Link to comment
outerorbiter
The clown is confined. I felt bad for having a small tank raised clown in a 10g. The water will look fine when it's too late. Link to comment

Dude the clownfish is probably slowly getting sicker since you didn't cycle and ammonia/nitrates are climbing... I would return it soon. Link to comment
JacksonEc
Ok guys. I have returned the fish. Now what am I to do to cycle the tank how long? Daily basis activitys? I have sea Chem tank stabilization in it. Thanks Link to comment
outerorbiter
Keep the tank going just as fish was in. Test weekly as a minimum for at least 4 weeks. When you see the ammonia peak then go to 0 and see the nitrites peak then go to 0. You are then ready Link to comment
JacksonEc
Ok thanks a lot. It says the lights need to stay off? Durning the cycle? Link to comment
outerorbiter
IMO doesn't matter but off is ok cause it will slow down any algae Link to comment

Look through the pico tanks section under the forums. That will give you an idea of what is capable for your system and what you can do and add etc.once the tank is cycled etc Link to comment

As pgr had mentioned you should look around in the pico section and get some ideas, see what has and hasn't worked for others with similar tank sizes. Also look into smaller gobies and see if any interest you. Again it's great to hear you followed other members advice and returned the clown. I think it was a great decision and you will be more successful with your tank because of it. Link to comment

JacksonEc
By the way is there anyway to optimize the filtration in the back. It looks pretty standard and simple want to upgrade it? And what would anyone say I invest money in really needing right now besides patience. Link to comment
pgrVII
We would need to see what's going on in the back filter area. Is it a hang on the back filter or built into the aquarium? Link to comment

pgrVII
I'd wait to see what you're going to stock first before you start rearranging the tank,it will save you some money. This hobby can be very overwhelming in that there's lots to spend money on lol Link to comment

Sal10104
Just to let you guys know. Tested the water for amonia today and it read zero. Don't know how or why? your cycle is very early there isn't any ammonia yet you can add a piece of table shrimp and let it rot or you can add some pure ammonia and dose that until it stats to go down and once it reaches 0 your pretty much good to go Link to comment
outerorbiter
If you have live rock and the fish was in there you have introduced the needed bacteria. All you need to do now is wait and throw a pellet or flake of food in there for a couple days. It will happen over a few weeks if all you said had been done. Link to comment
