Hi, I'm new to reef keeping and recently gotten a colt coral after reading that it was one of the easier corals to keep. Tank has been set up for a month with a damsel and skunk shrimp in it donig well.

First in:

An hour after:

Now about a day later:

I have read online that soft corals do take time to open up after transporting to a new tank but was just wondering if this looked normal to you guys as I have no experience with softies (only kept a hammer coral before).

P.s. lights are just 28watts of t5 6500k. 15 Gal tank only 12 inches high and it is placed near the top with what seems like adequate flow.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Thanks for your input. I was experimenting with growing corals with 6500k lights as I have read that 6500k spectrum can grow corals well and the higher K values are generally to colour them up and for deeper penetration. From my research, reefers of the past had to make do with lower K ratings such as 6500 and they managed to keep corals just fine. However in the interest of experimentation I have supplemented the tank with a table lamp running a 27W 9000k power compact in hopes that this will help the coral out.

Anyone else with opnions on if the colt is looking normal for it being a new edition?

Thanks
