teenyreef
I'm glad the Dino-x worked so well! I have some that I got for my 4g tank but I crashed the tank the day after I ordered it. 1 Quote Link to comment
Droy008
what did you do?! what directions did you use to calibrate and set dosing for certain days !!! You can only program it for daily functions, or at least that's all that I've managed. I have it dosing 1ml of b-ionic parts 1 and 2 twice a day. 1ml at 7 am before the lights come on and then another 1ml at 7 pm after the lights are out. I have found this to be the best in terms of keeping consistent water parameters. I am also dosing 1 ml of kents mag at 7am. And dosing 1 ml of acropora at 12:00pm. If I was to buy a doser again I'd strongly consider the brs dosers. But the jebao seems the most inexpensive of the lot. I'm glad the Dino-x worked so well! I have some that I got for my 4g tank but I crashed the tank the day after I ordered it. Yea it's simply renewed my tank so far! 1 Quote Link to comment
dandelion
I was just looking at the pictures and I saw a clown and a firefish then 2 clowns then a goby and a RGB too and I thought how did you manage to put so many fish in a 10G? What's good about the BRS doser over the Jebao one? 1 Quote Link to comment
Droy008
I like the BRS doser because they give you more control with flow. I belive you can have them dose down to .10ml which is great for Nanos. The jebao, in comparison, after being configured pump ~1ml. As for my fish, the tank was best at around 4. My 2 clowns the RGB and YWG. Unfortunately I'm down to only 2 fish now, my YWG and the female clown. Quote Link to comment
Droy008
So after the dinos I noticed that my nutrient levels were getting higher than I wanted. So I ordered some NoPox as well as a number of other items from Intank, your welcome Secret Santa guy! After doing a number of water changes, I have gotten everything calmed down but I am looking to take it a step further. So today starts the first official day of dosing NoPox! Quote Link to comment
Droy008
After testing today. NoPox has brought my nitrates down to just under 5ppm, phosphates are unreadable. And for the first time since starting this tank, I have been able to get my calcium up above 400ppm! I started dosing 3 times a day @ 3ml with b-ionic 2 part. And I cut back my magnesium to 2ml evert 3rd day. So the dosing looks like this. Jebao DP-4 Pump 1: B-ionic Calc 3ml 8:00am, 12:00pm, 8:00pm (everyday) Pump 2: B-ionic Alc 3ml 8:00am, 8:00pm (Everyday) Pump 3: Kent's Magnesium 2ml (every 3 days) Pump 4: Acropower 1ml 8:01am, 8:01pm (everyday) Manual Dosing: Read Sea NoPox 1.5ml (2 times a week) Quote Link to comment
FlowerMama
Sounds like you have it all planned out. 1 Quote Link to comment
Droy008
Sounds like you have it all planned out.More or less, I am tired of just trying something and hoping it works.Instead I am testing, calculating, dosing, then testing some more. Hopefully this will continue to provide positive results. I have noticed today that most of my corals are at the best they've been in a while. Colors are starting to brighten up, and all had great polyp extension. I did lower my light output today because I noticed my sps starting to lighten up. I'm not sure if it's simply a result of lower nutrients, or if they are starting to bleach. Quote Link to comment
Droy008
Figure I could post up some updated pictures of the tank. I just found this awesome comparison of one of the acros. Before: After 1 week: 2 Quote Link to comment

Droy008
Well my tank is officially one year old! So I purchased a jebao controller adaptor for my apex. I love this thing. I have been able to take control of my RW-4 as well as my newly aquired DC-1200. The DC1200 is amazing! It runs much quieter, cooler, and produces a lot more flow. (Sorry I don't have any pics) I finally found a piece of coral I've been hunting for a while now. Meteor Shower Cyphastrea I also grabbed a couple little things while I was at it. Orange Cyphastrea New Bird's Nest New Mille And next week a special new fish! 2 Quote Link to comment
Droy008
So I just went back and read through my thread. 1 year, so many mistakes... I guess that's why I chronicled it all here. 2 Quote Link to comment
Christopher Marks
Congratulations on the first year, that's the hardest part! We all make mistakes, but as long as we learn from them and improve, it's not all for nothing. Documenting it here not only helps you learn and review your progress, but it helps others in the community too. We're all in this together! 4 Quote Link to comment

FlowerMama
There's always a time when you think, whey did I do this or that etc. It just comes w/ being a reefer, and that's why I love this group- everyone is willing to listen while you banter back n' forth with yourself while you're trying to figure things out. 2 Quote Link to comment

I wanted to chronicle this tank for a number of reasons, the biggest was to see how the tank progress's. Fortunately I've been able to share the journey with some amazing people so far. 3 Quote Link to comment
Droy008
Some update photos for the thread, I got a few new additions for the tank. First: I Finally got rid of this little shit! And replaced him with this! Much smaller I also picked up a little porcelain crab. and last but not least, I managed to pick up another tailspot blenny! I had lost him for a minute, then I looked behind my nanomag, and there he was. Also I promised @pewpewkittah that I'd get a shot with my new AFS setup on the tank. Thank you again Tiff, you are the best! and last I'll leave an updated FTS. 3 Quote Link to comment
FlowerMama
Love your choices! I miss my tailspot from a couple years ago. 1 Quote Link to comment

Droy008
So I was searching through my tank ealier today to make sure all the new inhabitants are doing good. I just couldn't find my little porcelain crab. Well the little guy has officially found his new home! Then after about 20 mins I noticed he moved out to get some sun. After another hour or so I went back to check things and I just had to grab a video. This guys is soooo cool! (This one's for you FlowerMama ) 2 Quote Link to comment
teenyreef
Great additions! I love the porcelain crab, and seeing your TSB makes me miss mine Congratulations on the one year mark. I think every single reefer here in N-R has made just as many mistakes in their first year in their first tank too, at least I know I did. Then I proceeded to make just as many on the next two tanks. Like Christopher said, the important thing is to learn, and to share with others so they can learn too. The tank looks great! 2 Quote Link to comment
