OcellarisClownfish
Hi, I'm planning on starting a new marine tank. Anyways, I just got a free 30 litre tank, and I'm wondering if I could put an Ocellaris Clownfish in there. Link to comment
Snow_Phoenix
Yes, you can. I have an Occy clown in my 8G. But do you have all the equipment needed to start a tank (test kits, live rock, live sand etc.)? Are you going to do a FOWLR or go reef? Link to comment
OcellarisClownfish
Yes, I have all the equipment. I'm just wondering, which type of tank (reef or FOWLR) would be more suitable for the size? Also, it wouldn't be a good idea to put any other fish in there, would it? Thanks for the reply. Tamberav
I would make it a reef. I personally find small tanks easier if set up right since water changes are a breeze. Need more information like planned filtration to decide on stocking but you can probably get away with a 2nd fish. I would go with something small. Think clown goby, greenbanded goby, neon goby, tiny blenny species, high fin banded goby, ect. Start with a baby clown if you are going with a clownfish. Don't add both fish at once. Let the tank sit for awhile before you add a second... it will make it easier in the long run. AKA don't be like me, I have some cyano to show for it (I knew I was being naughty). Link to comment

Snow_Phoenix
Yep, you should make it into a mini-reef. You can start out with some easy beginner corals like mushrooms and softies (finger leathers, toadstools etc.). Make sure you space out your additions when it comes to fish. As Tam said, if you stock up too fast, you'll run into problems (I've gone through this several times and it's no fun). Choose a nano fish as a second fish - I recommend either a Tail-Spot blenny (TSB) or Yellow Clown Goby (YCG). If you're into symbiotic pairs, you could get a Hi-Fin goby paired with a pistol shrimp instead. Link to comment

OcellarisClownfish
Yeah, I think I'll go with a clown goby and clownfish. Thank you for all your help. Link to comment
