ORIGINAL POST:

I had originally intended to continue my journaling on the old thread "Two Cats and a Reef"- however, since I will be combining both that tank (mixed reef) with my non-photosynthetic reef into this one HUGE tank, I decided to start a new thread. I wanted a larger tank to provide more room for my growing corals (I finally own a frag of everything I've ever wanted!) and so I could own some Anthias and a Tang.

Of course, I was texting my thoughts about Anthias and Tangs when my iPhone corrected them to "anthrax" and "gangs"- so, the title for the new tank was born!

This will be an entirely new experience for me- I have never had a tank bigger than 20 gal (fresh, or anything!) and I have never had plumbing, or a sump/fuge.

The tank is set to arrive on Sunday- will be documenting the transfer/combine process from there!

Equipment:

50g SCA pnp starfire aquarium and included sump/skimmer/plumbing

Radion 3rd gen and mount

MP10

MP40 **will purchase

420 Koralia pumps (2x)

Jebao Doser

Tunze nano top-off

Reef Link

BRS netting cover kit

Tube anemone

Sun corals and dendros

cali tort

lakers monti

sunset monti

rainbow monti

concord grape monti

unidentified blue sps

I will probably keep a similar aquascape to the 20L.

Stay tuned!!

IMO use mostly new sand since you will be turning it over and will experience dieoff. Spike it with a liberal amount of sand from the old tank. Have a bottle of Seachem Phosphate around in case you need to dose lightly since new sandbeds can really suck up the Phosphate. Kat has used this to save the Katropora in her new tank, I used it when I switched to my 40 and avoided any coral loss so far.

good to know! I'm hoping to use a lot of the old sand, but will need to buy lots more in order to cover the bottom, i'm betting!

Yet another member on the road to recovery from MTS.

I salute you in your efforts... be strong.

Then comes the "I should keep the other tank as a quarantine" and "This other tank will be just softies, it wont be hard" and "This will be a Anemone/Clownfish species tank"

It's only logical, I mean she'll already have a couple of empty tanks and some spare equip...

NO! NO! WE MUST NOT THINK LIKE THAT!!

The cure is out there! The cure is upgrades.

Gives you bad diarrhea....

It does indeed...cipro will also weaken the tendons. In 2001, Georgetown U hospital actually saw a measurable increase in Achilles ruptures.

So, today I'm thinking I'll need to purchase sand (thinking the same fiji pink sugar-fine live sand that I've had in the other two tanks) and an MP40.

I can use my MP10 to provide cross-flow.
