yip baffles for the rear of the tank. I will need to pull the tank down which is fine, i have another small tank i will move everything over to for a week or so.

To be honest it has not been on much, or I have not been around when it has been on. It does cause a nice ripple through the water so I assume it does cause enough evaporation to cool the tank.

I think all fans reduce water temperature through evaporation. I feel like this hobby lets me revisit all my middle/high school physics... latent heat, specific heat, simple circuitry...

BTW I still can't wrap my mind around Christmas during Summer.

Not sure on a scape but I am really liking this tank. Does that fan cause extra evaporation?

And i made an epic mistake!!!!! glued the front wall in with out drilling the return!!!! had to pull it all apart and drill the return then glue it all back in... what a mess!

Should be glad you realized before you're past the point of no return (pun intended)

I must say bent front glass makes a night and day difference! Is your tank also made of star fire glass? It looks so much better than your spare tank.

Haha yes very glad!

Both of these tanks were under 20 dollars, from trademe (New Zealands ebay). dont think the tank is starfire. I think its just the bent glass which makes it look better.

Gluing partitions in, ended up making one out of glass.

The handy brick, holding things in place.

The bottom plate cannot be removed, the top can be removed to allow access to the lower compartment.

thought i would try out some mangroves in my nano before attempting them in my main display. Not even sure if these are the right mangroves haha.

they might even be to close to the light, but i guess we will see.

Looking really good fella, hows your nano doing with the summer sun?

I have a fan ready for mine but have not yet wired up my STC-1000 so im using 3-4 ice cubes in a ziplock bag to cool the tank on hot days.

How do you find that light, I ran one for a while and it just didnt have the guts for my tank i think

The tank is in my office which has a window i can open. however the temp has not been over 26.5 yet. The fan has only been on once or twice and works quiet fast to bring the temp down. the stc-1000 has made a huge difference in temp control over the standard eheim heater.

I dont think the light has much guts at all, im looking to replace it with a par38 in time but im in no rush as the tank only has zoa, gsp and soon some acans.

Also pulled my little DIY skimmer out, this morning.

Cheers mate! from my reading on nanoreef, it seems people have better luck with a pico going bare bottom. Makes it super easy to keep clean as well, just gravel vac everything off the bottom.

The SPS on the left is actually a Grubes gorgonian with gsp encrusting the rock its attached too. Not sure if ill keep it in there though.
