drgibby
MAME is installed and i love it. I really need to do a water change and clean the sand but that will be later tonight. Im also considering taking some of the sand out and reducing the sand bed a bit. Im afraid that it will just trap way to much detritus so i figured id jump on it before there became to much life in there. 2016-02-10 11.23.34 by drgibby, on Flickr 2016-02-10 11.23.55 by drgibby, on Flickr 1 Quote Link to comment

teenyreef
I keep my sand about 1/2" thick. That way there's a place for the snails to live, and I can keep it pretty clean just by squirting it with the turkey baster. That mame looks nice! 1 Quote Link to comment
drgibby
So i have lowered my sand-bed, did a small water change, and received my snails!. They all came so nicely packaged in there own containers. I did what the instructions said and floated them for a while the heating bag in the box was pretty luke warm if that and the paper towels were very cold. After floating the bags i released them all the big ones are just laying around but the little guys are starting to crawl so i have hope that eventually the big ones will come back to life. heres to hoping. Also i Finally got the nano box fan software upgrade to work and it works really well! Thanks Dave for all the help! 2016-02-11 15.24.38 by drgibby, on Flickr 2016-02-11 15.28.33 by drgibby, on Flickr 2016-02-11 16.17.00 by drgibby, on Flickr 1 Quote Link to comment

drgibby
So much to post today. Tank was doing well so i went to the LFS and they had a sale on my Firefish so i came home with a pair. My wife has named them Buttercup and Wesley. 2016-02-20 17.31.32 by drgibby, on Flickr Wesley is more brave and swims around the tank while Buttercup tends to stay in her cave and only come out when its safe or feeding time. 2016-02-20 11.26.40 by drgibby, on Flickr2016-02-20 08.18.22 by drgibby, on Flickr I think its fantastic and i really love these fish. They hang out in there cave when they go to sleep or are scared. I also picked up some frags on Sunday and put them in late last night. I probably got more then i should have and i planned on splitting them up between this tank and the 10 but i feel more confident with this one so the majority of them went in here for now. Here we go i picked up Rastas, Armageddon, Fruit loops(which im not sure if they are or not) and my Favorite Midnight Princess Favites crasta by drgibby, on Flickr arma by drgibby, on Flickr loops by drgibby, on Flickr midnight by drgibby, on Flickr Now The FTS!! fts 222 by drgibby, on Flickr we were even lucky to get Wesley in the shot! 2 Quote Link to comment

vlangel
How often do people feed there fish and corals? I think my fish are pigs!! I feed my fish once a day and I try to offer different foods to give the widest variety of nutrition possible. Little gobies, anthias and of course my seahorses get fed twice a day. I know that a 4 gallon tank has its own challenges though. 1 Quote Link to comment
drgibby
So how do you feed zoas and faviats? Currently im using a mixture of reef roids and mysis and trying to spot feed but im not really sure it its working. Quote Link to comment
natalia_la_loca
So how do you feed zoas and faviats? Currently im using a mixture of reef roids and mysis and trying to spot feed but im not really sure it its working. Mysis is too big for almost any zoanthid. True palythoas (e.g. nuke green, purple death) can take chopped mysis. Generally speaking, target feeding of small particles (roids, coral frenzy, rods food coral blend, ground up pellets) gives good results. 1 Quote Link to comment

I was thinking mysis would be to big but thought i had seen others do it. Ill leave the mysis out from now on. Thanks for the help. This will prolly also help keep the ammonia down. 1 Quote Link to comment
Droy008
I often spot feed my zoas and palys with spectrum pellets. The .5mm is the perfect size. Just take a straw and drop the pellet inside and hold the straw over the polyp. Works great and my zoas have been very happy with it. Quote Link to comment

Wouldn't this irritate the zoa and cause it to close up? or am i reading something wrong Quote Link to comment

Then the small pellet drops on and the zoa will grab it. Quote Link to comment
drgibby
Everything seems to be going well. Only one small setback. Wesley the fish either jumped out the small opening in the corner of the tank or was fished out by an annoying cat. I found him on the floor in front of the tank he was already dried out. Sad Sad day. Anywho i have ordered a screen top from smiz and can't wait for it Should look awesome and prevent this from happening again. Ill get pictures up in a couple of days. drgibby
So i had an order from cultivated reef come in last night. They did a wonderful job packing and shipping. There corals are fantastic for the rest of them check out the 10 gallon thread. I put the rainbow ricordia in the 4g and the random starfish hitchhiker in here as well. I had put the devil armor paly in but it looks so similar to the Armageddon tyres that i decided to move it to the 10g and will probably try to remove the polyps from its frag rock and transfer it to another rock. Im nervous for this so any advice will be appreciated. I also changed the rock scape but you'll have to wait for pictures of that. Here are the pictures that i know you all want.
