Dreichler
So i have a nice set of red people eaters, and there is a white sponge that literally appeared out of no where, no more than a week. The zoas are on a 1 inch round frag disk, and the sponge is covering most of the top and growing on the sides. i thought fragging the zoas to a new plug would work, but i don't think i can because its growing on and around the zoas. The zoas are not really opening, have always had long extension and big polyps. Should i remove the sponge? How? Link to comment
Dreichler
Looks like a sponge So what should i do about it?! Link to comment
brandon429
no i wouldnt remove just yet, its up to you to feed the zo and change water assertively so they'll outgrow the sponge. simple vital space competition here, these sponges never overtook my stuff, if i was your next door neighbor id let you flick that in my reef after you cut it off lol. and if you played old 70s-90s jp on guitar we perhaps could hang out a bit longer (painkiller is among best metal songs ive heard) Link to comment
tibbsy07
Brandon suggests some good tactics, but ultimately the only sure fire way to guarantee the zoas beat the sponge is to remove the sponge. Use a razor blade. Link to comment
Dreichler
Not even 15 minutes after posting this, my emerald crab went over to the frag and ate off about 98% of the sponge algae! Hopefully hell get the rest or it will die off. Link to comment

tibbsy07
Emerald crabs are voracious eaters. Surprised it ate the sponge, not surprised the sponge isn't recovered (yet, at least) Link to comment
