Trouble Finding Placement for Gyre in a 60"x18"x14" tank

Having a hard time placing this thing...if it isn't cranked up past 50% flow seems to dissipate before it reaches the other side...killing the "gyre." However, if I crank it up, it sucks up the sand bed below it.

 

I must be doing something wrong...

That 14" height really kills it unless you have a larger particle sand. that's what I found with the 150 and 130 in my 48x24x16 tank.

Try turning the flow grates a little up. I see the sand on the left side is being moved, adjust that grate to see if it helps.
