atoll
I saw this YouTube vid and thought I would do something similar with a few tweaks and fitted it in my Aquareef 300 sump. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QS24...Rp2OmjwSlu-z7QI used an acrylic leaflet box A5 size from eBay here.http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1711563439...%3AMEBIDX%3AITThe lighting rigs I made out of 3/4" overflow pipe, elbows and tee's.I installed my 2 X 20w LED units (wattages available from 10w to 50w from other suppliers on eBay) and cleaned the scrubber after a week to remove the dark slime like algae. They have 16red LED's and 4 blues. Available here.http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3314983990...%3AMEBIDX%3AITHere are a few pic's of my install. Look closely for the RH light.A better pic showing my ATS set up with skimmer cup removed. I don't have a lot of room in my sump. One of my LED's mounted on the DIY rig.More pic's inc a full sump shot.My lights are currently running for 18 hours.I will report of progress and sorry I didn't take a pic of the scrubber screen before I did the first clean. 1 Quote Link to comment

jedimasterben
18 hours is a lot of time for a new scrubber. Are you getting decent growth so far? Quote Link to comment
atoll
18 hours is a lot of time for a new scrubber. Are you getting decent growth so far? 18 hours from what I have read is a starting point for a new scrubber as per guidelines from Santa Monica as I recall hence why I started at that length of time. I am getting what I am expecting algae growth wise, that is a brown non hair algae growth however I expect/hope after the first few cleanings GHA will then take hold. Only time will tell. atoll
10 days on and one cleaning of the screen of the expected brown slime like algae and GHA starting to grow already. 2 Quote Link to comment
HarryPotter
Cool, following. This is just for nutrient export? Not as a "refugium" type area for phosphate processing? Quote Link to comment
atoll
Nutrients and phosphate, phosphate being one of the nutrients. The scrubber is positioned above the water level in the sump and fed by a small powerhead. I also have Siproax in 2 egg crate baskets for biological filtration. My Aquareef 300. Quote Link to comment
green1181
Hey Atoll, Thinking about doing the same, do you have a long term review on the ATS? Quote Link to comment
