reale_02
Hi. I used to have a scooter blenny. I woke up this morning, and i saw it dead sitting on a rock. I know that it is not sleeping because I could tell that he was not inhaling and exhaling. I have noticed that my blue damsel would sometimes chase it around the aqaurium, and hit it on the head once or twice then swim away. My question is: was it a mantis shrimp that killed my fish, or was it the blue damsels constent attacks on it which killed it? Also, when mantis shrimp kill other fish do they eat them or just leave them in the tank? Link to comment
oldtimer
Scooter dragonets (blenny) require a constant supply of reef generated live food. They will eventually starve in a small tank. Mantis shrimp eat their prey and leave no remains other than shell pieces if it's a smasher. Link to comment
reale_02
it ate food twice a day, everyday. so i dont think that it was starvation. I also saw it go along the rocks each day and nibble at things on them. so i dont think it was starvation. any other thoughts? Link to comment
cadesun
it wasn't getting the essential nutrients from pods that it needed to live. Link to comment
