Bodasifa
about to go buy my heater tonight and am going with the cobalt neo therm. debating going with 2 x 75 watt or 1 x 100 watt. what is the better decision. i am thinking with the smaller height of the 75's i can stand them up vertically like they are supposed to be. With the 100 i would have to lay it on its side, which is not recommended by cobalt. By also having 2 heaters i will have a backup in case of failure on one Quote Link to comment

For a 30 gallon tank, I would say two of the 75 watts. That helps for redundancy, if one dies the other can work and if one gets stuck on, it will most likely not be able to heat the tank by itself. Hows the cooling? Tank isn't too warm? Quote Link to comment
Bodasifa
I live on the west coast of Canada where temps are pretty mild and winters don't get cold. My thinking is that having 2 75's won't have to work as hard as 1 100 watt and i get to have a backup in case of failure. Also the water line in the rear chamber wouldnt allow for the proper orientation of the 100 watt just got news my stand is at the powdercoater and will be ready by friday Quote Link to comment

I cut the power to my apex and took the POS out. I contacted Cobalt and spoke actually with the owner as I was very upset and thought my tank was going to get nuked by the melting plastic leeching into my tank. My tank did survive, Cobalt sent me another heater which I sold on EBay. I purchased a tru-temp Ehiem Jager 75 watt, and have never looked back..Awesome heater! Quote Link to comment
Bodasifa
back on the fence in deciding on lighting. i keep going back to kessil or the radions for some reason. i don't have anywhere i can see both in use. The one thing i don't like about the kessils is the ugly gooseneck mounting. If i could figure a better sleeker way to mount them. controllability isnt a concern as they will be run from an apex. help me decide Quote Link to comment
