Dimming setting for CC Par 38?

I moved from a CC par30 to a CC par38 over my 4 gallon to get full spectrum. 90optics

 

I set the par38 about 10inches from the water line (>12inches from top coral). Unfortunately that fried several of my corals- encrusting montis, a couple zoas and hurt a leptoseris.

 

Question is- how much are you dimming your ccpar38 bulbs?? Please also include light height relative to water line.
