Lugol's solution and green toadstool

I was planning on using Lugol’s Solution on green toadstool that seems to be deteriorating in health if it does not recover in next week or so.

 

I was wondering if anyone has used this method before and has had any kind if success with it. Any special tips on how to do this will be very much appreciated.

I think iodine is a no-no with softies.....but you might want to get a copy of Borneman's book "Corals". He has a section about lugols treatments near the end of the book, and I think I remember him saying something about a dying sarcophyton responding to lugols dip.
