SpankythePyro
I had a couple tanks through undergrad, but wasn't able to keep one up during grad school. Focus on school and then start up a tank that you can devote time too when more important ducks are in a line Link to comment

SpankythePyro
Well I did have a tank in grad program... but I couldn't dedicate the time to it to make sure it thrived.... heater broke and I didn't notice it until I saw an algae bloom and a massive die off of my micro brittle stars :/ Link to comment
Mhcblues119
I currently have a nano set up at school. It's done amazingly well granted it's my first ever salt water tank let alone reef tanks. And it's only been set up for 6 months or so now.Recently noticed I have some flatworms that I'm not excited about but taught me the lesson of learning to dip anything before I put in my tank.. Heres a picture of the tank as of now! Link to comment

Lol I focus on my tank more because well it's addicting as shit, anyone else? I attend Fresno state in central California I've had tanks throughout my years at college. For the most part i was living at school so it wasn't distracting, as i would only see it on the weekend, but now that I'm back home while i finish my last semester and it is soooo distracting lol. As i sit and do my work i periodically get up and go look at my tank. It also gets neglected sometimes when i have a lot of work to do. Hell as I'm writing this I'm sitting in a recliner in front of my tank while I'm supposed to be doing work Link to comment

GavinW
I am in school currently, and running a IM nuvo 10. It's great! Takes some time, but not too much where I can not focus on school as well. I do not regret at all having one while in college. Link to comment
Sunstar
I could not have my tank running while I was in college. It crashed 2.5 years ago. I just got it going this year. Link to comment
NanoClown
For my first 2 years of college I did not run a tank because I didnt have the time. Now that I got used to commuting and spending a lot of time at school, I invested in a controller an an ATO to help automate my tank. As for maintenance I dose and test twice a week, water change on the weekend, and feed my fish once a day when I get home. It's really not that hard to maintain once you get into the routine of it. Its also a good idea to keep a log of your parameters every time you test. Link to comment
Halo_003
If you take a tank to school... Simplify, simplify, simplify!!! You will thank yourself. Spend the extra money, get an ATO, a good controller, and an RO with a float shutoff. This way you can make/mix new water remotely, and the tank will cruise control. I would also get an automatic flake feeder to feed 2x small daily feedings in case you don't have time to feed every single day. Get your filtration set up to be easy, if you can't do a complete change in 10 minutes it's not easy enough. Get a few extra pumps to make waterchanges fast, I was at the point last year at school where I could do a WC in 10 minutes before my first class. Link to comment

Do a small system and take it home. I think thats what a few people have done. Or set up a temp system at home and just transfer livestock. Link to comment

You guys think that would work? Or live off campus. haha I was a transfer so I had to live on campus for this first year but for next semester im trying to line up a lease right now haha Link to comment
