fishfreak0114
Thanks teeny! So far the ich treatment is going well, I think it's all gonna be ok And wow, today's the first snow day I've ever had! No school! I've lived in Merritt 11 years and not once have they shut down because of the weather. 1 Quote Link to comment

I tried to do the tank loosely Dutch style, I used only plants to scape, and I also used a number of stems (which I've never had luck with before). Everything growing nicely, a few plants are still recovering from the very cold shipping. fishfreak0114
I forgot to post this yesterday, but the fish were transferred at 4:45 yesterday. The next transfer will be tomorrow, not Wednesday because on Wednesday in visiting the UBCO campus. So just so I don't lose track, here's the transfer schedule. Started Thursday the 9th. Sunday the 12th Tuesday the 14th Friday the 17th Sunday the 19th Wednesday the 22nd At that point they'll either go into the 25g, or I'll do one more transfer on Saturday the 25th. I'll probably do the extra just to be safe. 1 Quote Link to comment
fishfreak0114
Happy Valentine's Day! Transfer was done at 7:45 tonight, next one on Friday before 7:45. I've noticed quite a few vermetid snails on my rock work! I used a blade to pop them off, but they floated away. Hopefully they die anyways, I'll keep removing them when I see them. Also, it appears that the Dino's are slowly returning. There's barely any at the moment, like one or two strings a day, but I think I'm going to start the same treatment I did last time this weekend. 3 day blackout, and peroxide dosing. If that doesn't work I'll order vibrant I suppose. 1 Quote Link to comment
teenyreef
The only reliable way I've found to kill vermetid snails is to crush them. I have a small pair of forceps, but long nose pliers work just as well. If they float away they will likely reattach somewhere else Good luck with heading off the dinos! 2 Quote Link to comment

fishfreak0114
I broke out the camera yesterday because things were looking good. The toadstool is fine, it was walked on by the shrimp just before I started taking photos. FTS! I never know where he’ll pop up next! Later this year, probably summer, I’ll be making a trip to Vancouver with my mom which has kind of become an annual thing to visit the aquarium and hit all the fish stores, and when I do I think I’ll pick up a couple more because they’re pretty awesome little crabs. P2181157_zpsrbhhi3bj by orb1915, on Flickr I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about adding another piece of rock to my tank, but I’m really digging the zoa island. I think perhaps Belle started nipping a while before I noticed it. I particular, one of my acans had been really pissed and retracted for a couple weeks, it had me pretty worried, but as soon as Belle was out it perked right up and is puffy and happy Also, my caulerpa had been looking awful, bitten down to ragged nubs. It's growing great now! P2181152_zpsnwwd2b2v by orb1915, on Flickr This one has never split in the year and half or so I’ve had it, it hasn’t even grown. It’s probably my favorite leather in the tank, and it’s really happy in the low flow, semi-shaded spot beneath the toadstool. I think it has grown in the short time I’ve had it! That or it’s just puffing up more. Either way, P2181147_zpstfcjr0bw by orb1915, on Flickr This is about the extent of the dinos. I didn’t start treating this weekend because I forgot to start it Friday , and I want to be here for the entire blackout so I can keep a close eye on things, but I’ll make sure not to leave it too long. Not too long after, the babies all shrunk up and looked quite unhappy/dead. I still didn’t give up on it, and today I noticed that after several months, the babies have puffed up again! P2181142_zpstftq1cgr by orb1915, on Flickr I have at least one stomatella, this guy’s pretty big, around an inch! P2181140_zpsh7df2rxf by orb1915, on Flickr I just fed the tank two cubes of mysis and a cube of rotifers. The corals loved it! I recently found out that PE mysis are harvested in Okanagan Lake! I swim there sometimes, it’s only about an hour and a half away. Now I’ll be thinking about those little shrimps swimming around in the same water as me every time 4 Quote Link to comment

fishfreak0114
Can someone tell me if the photos are showing up? On my iPad most of them are a little rectangle with a blue box with a question mark. It all looked fine earlier. I'm about to do the transfer, I suspect the fish will be in by 7:30 if I'm slow. I've decided to do the extra transfer, so on Wednesday I'll set up the 25g, and on Saturday they can go in I'm super glad that the treatment is almost over, talk about a PITA setting up a tank every 3 days! 1 Quote Link to comment

Thanks I'm sure soon your yanks gonna be full of awesome looking coral! The fish seem to be ich free, I haven't seen any spots since the first round fell off. I'm glad your back on NR, I wanna see your tank! Took me until 7:50 to get the fish in, I broke a thermometer and had to use a turkey blaster to remove all the little metal balls 1 Quote Link to comment
fishfreak0114
On Friday I set up the 25g, and yesterday I put the fish in! I'm so happy that treatment is over, they all seem healthy I'm going to put an ad up to find Belle a new home. I'm sad to see such a pretty fish go, but I don't want my corals to suffer. 1 Quote Link to comment
vlangel
Your tank is looking great! Those last set of pics are really nice. I love your FW tank too. I also always liked gouramis. I like the way they use those feelers to touch everything. :-) 1 Quote Link to comment

fishfreak0114
The fish are still all happy, I fed them rinsed mysis and nori today, followed by a 16l water change. I'll do another water change this weekend, larger. Will the fish be ok if I only feed them every three or four days? Trying to keep ammonia in check. I am dosing prime every day. I keep noticing small things i want to change in my tank. I need to frag some zoas, I'm still trying to find a spot for the duncan on the rocks, and I may have, and I'm considering taking my acans off their plugs and attaching them to one piece of...something. Just so they are easier to keep upright. 3 Quote Link to comment
fishfreak0114
Last night I put an ad up to find Belle a new home. I didn't try to get money for her, I just wanted her to go to someone good, and she has. Right now she is making the 1.5 hour drive to a new home in a guys 120g . I'm not gonna lie, I cried upon parting. I didn't realize how attached I was. I'm very happy that she'll have a large tank to roam though Once I knew that I had to give away Belle a couple weeks back, I started looking at other fish. I thought I could keep it at just four, but I can't resist adding a fifth. Right now I have three primary candidates: PSW orchid dottyback (could potentially get captive bred from a local breeder) I can't remember the name of the third at the moment! Any others I should look at? 1 Quote Link to comment
fishfreak0114
The third is a swalesi basslet. Could be difficult to find, but a store in Vancouver does get them in on occasion. Quote Link to comment

fishfreak0114
Today I did a 32l waterchange on the QT after feeding them. They're all still doing fine. I also did a waterchange in the DT, fragged off a piece of colt coral, GSP and Zoas. I also moved a few things around. Everything's still really unhappy, so no pic for now, but maybe this weekend. I would post one sooner, but I literally found out 5 minutes ago that my wisdom teeth are being removed on Wednesday. I'm pretty pissed my parents didn't tell me Don't they know two days notice isn't fair to my bosses, and that it takes time for teachers to put together homework packages? 1 Quote Link to comment
