kygass
I am installing my system in my laundry room and plan on using the washing machine drain for my waste. My concern is that my installation would work best quite low in the room, so that my waste line would have to ascend a couple feet to reach the drain. Is this OK for the waste line to work against gravity like that? Or should systems be installed above the drain? Thanks. Link to comment
AZDesertRat
You will be fine, its when you have long tubing runs or drastic changes in elevation like pushing up from a basement you run into issues with changes in the waste ratio. Make sure you install the waste line with an air gap and don't just shove it down the drain which violates plumbing codes. Tape it to the washing machine hose just above the drain so it drips down into the drain or stick a short piece of PVC in the drain and suspend the waste line above that. While it is remote it is possible for a RO to backsiphon under certain conditions so make sure you install to code. Link to comment
