vlangel
Hi all, I recently bought a shaving brush and it did what it has done for me in the past. All the greenery broke off and all I have now is a stock. I did read that they die back seasonally and can come back. Has any of you experienced a comeback? Link to comment
HIppieRose
The one I bought a month or so ago just died. But it put out a new brush before it did and is doing fine. Sorry all I can tell you since I have not had mine long. Link to comment
Maniu
My tripled in spike extension in a month. Some spikes split in two. Not sure what works with these guys. It is a hit or miss. Those do need sizeable calcium dosing. Link to comment
vlangel
Thanks HippyRose and Maniu. Based on what you both told me I will leave the stock in the sand awhile in case it wants to send up a shoot. Mine is in a seahorse tank so the cooler temps may have affected it. My seahorse tank is connected to my reef tank via sump so it should be getting plenty of calcium between dosing and large water changes. Link to comment
_divad
I have had about 50/50 luck with them. I think it really depends on where they are harvested. I have also had a very eager Halloween crab eat one. I have best luck with non direct high flow and medium-high lighting. Link to comment
Dryland
I used to keep them and had great luck. As soon as they died I would trim them to the base and usually one or two new shoots would appear in the area within a week or two. They seemed to like to grow alongside rocks, probably sending their roots down into the anaerobic layers beneath. Link to comment

We will see. Link to comment
xavier1
I have found that "freshness" plays a huge factor. If you cant get a good, very newly harvested bunch, its not worth it. otherwise, they do very well in my experience Link to comment

I have been wanting some gorgonian anyway! Link to comment

Had them for about 3 months now. Link to comment
CronicReefer
Just be aware that they make a huge mess in the tank when they shed. Can be quite annoying if you plan to place it in your display. Link to comment
