Kayman
I just found 3 in some chaeto I picked up from my LFS and was coming on here to ask the same question ha. Don't mean to high jack but does anyone know if it would be okay to leave them in my 'fuge, mine is pretty small, or how big this type of brittle gets? Thanks! Link to comment
amphipod
you arent in any danger of it outgrowing your setup, the larger species of brittle stars only get a few inches, the ones usually encountered in this hobby are smaller species. Link to comment

There are some large brittle stars. I have one that if you stretch 2 of its arms out and to end it's about 9 inches. Link to comment
amphipod
True but it is highly unlikely he'll have one of them. I've heard of ones somewhat over a foot long with outstretched leg. But in all probability its a small one. Link to comment
Bingo1213
Yes brittles can get large, I have a black brittle star who measures 12 inches from tip to tip, but he did not hitchhike in. I am very lucky though, he has been in my tank for over 2 years and has never hurt a fish. He will even let me hold him when I work in my tank. I also have had those same banded brittle stars for over a year and none of mine have grown over 2 inches. You should be good! Link to comment
