5 gallon is still cloudy, could it be my MP10 setting?

So I setup my 5.5 gallon yesterday. Got sand from a friend to help with the kick start so it could be a bacteria bloom.

I have the MP10 on Lagoon mode going from beginning to mid & back (i just increased it to like the 4th last bulb to see if it helps). And after having it run since yesterday 4pm the water is still cloudy. The salinity is 1.025. I did do a API test just for fun (to see how the kit worked first tank so...) and there was a tiny bit of ammonia, no nitrite and a little bit of nitrate.

I was wondering if the current MP10 setting was causing the water to still be cloudy? The sand its not blowing around. There are some tiny grains just rolling but now going up or anything.

Would love to hear your thoughts!

VorTech should really make a smaller pump. They claim it's suitable for a 2.5 gallon tank but you lose much of the benefit of that pump dialing it back so much. If you don't have the foam guard on it, try that (it will reduce the output).

As for the cloudiness, it's only been a day. Give it some more time, many tanks go several days before they clear. If you aren't running some sort of mechanical filter media (like floss), then do so and rinse it often until the tank clears.

I have the foam output on there. I also noticed that the MP10 is pretty loud and its aligned to the best of its ability. Do you know if that will improve over time? There is also nothing beneath the tank to absorb anything so that could cause the sound not sure.

Dont have any floss in the tank. Its pretty small and barely leaves space for anything else. The tank is meant to be temporary for now. Something to grow corals with while I go through this stupid immigration process lol.

Ill try to clean out the foam padding around the MP10 since it looks pretty dirty already after a few hours only.

i have heard that the MP10s or MPs in general can either me super quiet, noticeably audible or just plain loud. Also, when I was setting up my tank, it was super cloudy, and so i clipped on some filter floss. hours later, it was fairly clear, and so all I did was carefully remove the filter floss, rinsed it and bam. Try to use some filter floss temporarily to clean it- dont see why it wouldnt work just as well for you.
