bevo5
Hi. I've got a large zoa rock that was my first coral months ago. It's a trooper and has been growing bigger and bigger even as I have gone through the process of learning how to not kill stuff. But since about 36hrs ago it's been closed tight. Every polyp. Everything else in the tank is doing great - torches, bubble, acan, other zoa. There are no visible white puffy bits or what I would think pox look like from photos. How common is it for these things to stay shut for a couple days? I once had a toadstool stay shut for 4 days and it came out much larger. Do they just take a breather? I've ordered furan 2 just in case but I don't want to start dipping for no reason Oh I did switch out my chemi pure elite for the blue on Saturday. And since sat night the zoa has been closed. Any link there? Seems unlikely as everyone else in there is happy enough. Thanks. Link to comment

bevo5
hmmmm....there was a suggestion that maybe it was because the elite was removing phosphate that was there before. Does that seem like the culprit? If so, will the zoa eventually get used to the lower phosphate levels and open up or do I need to just remove the blue altogether? It seems like it would be best overall if things got used to the lower setting. And - why would only the zoa be affected? I've got tons of stuff that has been much more sensitive to change and they're all doing great. P Link to comment
Tenor
Nothing to worry if they closed for few days. Link to comment
bevo5
Thanks for the help y'all. All but a few smaller polyps are back and open for business. I guess I just have to get used to the idea of these corals closing up for a few days here or there. It's weird, but normal I suppose. Now, on to the next problem to figure out. Link to comment
