SnailCubes

Ordered the 10 gal quick crew, and it arrived at about 4:00pm on 1/9. Opened them up right away and it was coldddddd. Acclimated them per the procedure on the site. I know they can be dormant for some time and I've read all the FAQ questions on the site, but the fact the heat pack was closer to an ice cube concerns me (not to mention the water was ice cold)...I guess all one can do is give it till about Tuesday and hope everyone warms up, right?! Either way, thank you!

I would let John know right away.

I'm sure he will take care of you.

I'm sure he will, but I'm giving it a couple days for the snails to "wake up." I read on his site it is pretty common for them to go dormant for a few days from the shock of shipping, and in my experience a lot of critters do much better in extreme cold than extreme heat. Just going to wait it out for now.

If they got down past freezing (and you're in MI, I hear it's cold over there), their cells are compromised. I'd contact John while you wait, and monitor ammonia for sure.
