gypsyzNthievz
Does anyone have an idea if this brown marking is a infection? I just purchased this hammer coral yesterday and when I got home I noticed that it has a brown marking on its stem. It's not slimy so I don't think its Brown jelly disease. The heads are opening up normally with no discharge. None of the brown marking has reached any of the heads but, Ill be keeping a close eye on it if it continues to spread. Thanks in advance Link to comment
Wretched
Looks fine to me. Hard to tell in the pictures, but nothing seems abnormal. If all else fails, when lights are out and they're closed, take a soft bristle toothbrush, and see if you can gently remove it. Link to comment
CronicReefer
The stem is just skeleton so no worries about BJD down there. The entire stem of my frogspawn and hammer coral are both a dark brown almost black. I think it is just microalgae growing in the skeleton in my corals. Link to comment
opaquelace
If you mean on the base you don't have to worry. That is simply skeleton and not alive at all. Anything brown or green down there is probably film algae or discoloration. Brown jelly disease affects the soft tissue of a coral. And it makes your coral stink really bad. Link to comment
