Bullet
I have been away from SW tanks/Reefs for about 8 years since my move forced me to dismantle and sell my 50G polyp reef. I don't have any of my old equipment so I will be starting fresh. What I would like to do is keep things small and stick to a 29G tank; I feel it would be easy upkeep yet still large enough to do something with. Here are some things I would like to keep in the tank...I would like a Clownfish single specimen either a tomato or a maroon. I would also like an anemone for it to host...I understand they need good flow and high lighting. My plan is to convert an AC110 filter into a HOB Refugium, I will run this reverse daylight. Skimmer will need to be HOB as well as I am not interested in having a sump. Also would I get much benefit out of a media reactor on a tank this size? I could incorporate media into the HOB refugium if needed to save on space. I am also planning on using a Vortech MP10 for flow...with the AC110 and any other equipment would this be adequate? I ran Koralias in the past and just don't want the clutter of them in my new tank. Live rock I would probably buy some less expensive Flordia cultured rock because it comes with a lot of life, I bought this in the past and had lots of sponges, macro algae, some corals, etc. I also plan to purchase a few lbs of aquacultured rock just to get some really good coralline going in the tank. I DONT plan to have a full blown reef, if I wind up with a few corals that's fine but it will not be coral dominated as I really do want the system to be about the anemone and the clownfish. I have used Seachem Reef Salt in the past, would it be good to continue to go with this? What suggestions do you all have for other equipment such as lighting? I don't want to spend a flat fortune on lighting I would say somewhere between $100-150 would be it for lighting, preferably less expensive. Link to comment

Wretched
I can make a suggestion. Instead of using all HOB stuff, get an all in one tank. Make one of the compartments in the tray host some cheato. Biocube is nice, if you're looking to keep it simple and can be had for less than 200$ if you find one for sale used. Innovative Marine FUSION tanks are nice... That salt is fine. There's many skimmers available, and for sale all the time that fit nicely also inside the back of the compartments. Link to comment
Bullet
lol, I am hoping to keep the money pit aspect under control. I do plan to acquire as much gently used equipment as I can on Ebay. Unfortunately I live in a rural area with no access to a LFS outside of Petsmart. Thus like in the past I will simply have to order everything I need including the livestock online. I had never considered a AIO tank due to their higher price tags, I suppose it *could* be cheaper in the end thought. I know nothing about them as I have always just done independent tanks. What about lighting for the anenome? Would T5s cut it or should I just do a halide and be done with it? I know that a 150watt halide would probably do the job but Id rather stick with something a bit more energy efficent. Link to comment
CronicReefer
Reef Radiance/Reef Breeders/Ocean Revive all make good LED lighting systems for less than $200. Link to comment
