I currently have the right mp10 off because someone told me direct flow is bad

However i feel like the left mp10 on its own is giving flow but the polyps arnt moving like crazy

What do i do? ill my sps be okay?? do they die without flow?

Flow is important but light is equally as important. I remember seeing on your tank page that you modified the hood of your NC12 with LED's. Do you know what PAR levels you're getting from those lights?

thats another problem .. i dont have a par meter. started at around 30 percent worked my way up to 50. Hopefully get my hands on one soon. u think i'd be fine on the flow? what should i do with the mp10 to give me decent flow to my sps without being direct.

Your acros look bleached or dead.

Too much light intensity?

Polyps fill up at night.

How do you feed your tubastrea under there?

Tubastrea, not cephestrea.

You can have them on opposite sides of the tank. Like one upper back of the tank and the other at the opposite side of the tank, but in a lower and more forward position.

And like what farkwar said, SPS can have polyp extensions at night.

Hm.. no i got them like that .. theyre a nice yellow and pink color ... and the open up all day.

IMG_7714.jpgare these cephestrea or dendros? im not sure

I feed them mysis shrimp, indivdual with tongs and theyre gaining size quick.

the upper topp right side is right next to the sps colony and forces them to close ..

Where did you get the SPS colonies from? Assuming they're not bleached or STN'd, they look like they were maricultured or came from a zeovit / ULNS system. Just anecdotally speaking, if this is the case, it's extremely hard to get these to adapt to a non ULNS tank even if it's been established for a few years. It takes very slow light acclimation (weeks to months) and very stable parameters. They're also very close to the surface, I would probably turn the lighting down a lot. Not sure what you're at but if you aren't able to match PAR from where they came from, I would literally go down to about 75% of what you're at, and again assuming these were recently added and haven't been in the tank for a few weeks already.

You definitely don't want the SPS directly in front of a MP10 that close. It will literally strip the tissue from the skeleton.

Typically I get good PE in happy SPS, in moderate flow. High flow causes polyp retraction. But there's a whole lot more to PE than just flow. Tank parameters are by far a much greater significance in my experience.

i see Thanks man that really helps.. I got it from vivid aquariums in the valley.. im not sure where they got it from tho. I also took the mp10 out and put it towards the front and lowered the light to 25 and will bump up slowly.
