specore
The red brittle starfish is back! I found him in the back chamber during a water change last night. After a very long process involving tongs (bad idea, broke one of his legs ), brine shrimp for bait, a flashlight, a drop light, taking apart most of the back chamber, lots of cussing, and a very small net, I got him back in the display tank. That's odd that he ended up back there. Would he have to have gone over the false wall to get there? Quote Link to comment
teenyreef
I was too paranoid about my mithrax crabs not having enough to eat once they finished the algae and took them into the LFS shortly after I got them. I spot fed them some algae discs I had for my freshwater tank too and it was so funny watching them take a piece and run off to eat it Yeah, I think the Emerald needs to find a new home soon. I may keep the red one, though, he's smaller and not as aggressive (so far). That's odd that he ended up back there. Would he have to have gone over the false wall to get there? Yep, that's exactly what he must have done. I found him snuggled up against the skimmer box. Hopefully he's learned his lesson and will stay home now. 1 Quote Link to comment
teenyreef
I haven't taken an FTS in a while because there hasn't been much change lately. But since the last FTS was back when I still had algae I talked myself into getting an update tonight. Hopefully when new corals arrive later this week I'll have a more colorful one 2015-01-05 FTS IM10 by TeenyReef, on Flickr The rics are slowly starting to get their color back. I miss the yuma, though, he was the prettiest of them all Ricordea Garden by TeenyReef, on Flickr I moved these red acans from my 4g tank, as they were getting crowded out by some of the other corals there. They're small but growing well, so I think they will like it here with more room to grow. Red Acans by TeenyReef, on Flickr 11 Quote Link to comment

tibbsy07
The acans and rics look killer! I really like the way you've put the rics all down there on the sand - do you have any concerns about snails or anything damaging them? 1 Quote Link to comment

I really like the way you've put the rics all down there on the sand - do you have any concerns about snails or anything damaging them? Thanks! The snails and crabs don't bother them, although sometimes the snails move them around a bit when they burrow through the sand. Ok, my old standby when anyone asks what fish to get. Pink streaked wrasse!!!!!! I can't even tell you how wonderful and sweet and pretty and wonderful and loveable and great and wonderful this fish is . Seriously! I wish I could give mine a hug . But are they wonderful? YES I know Jaime can back me up on this . Wonderful time a bajillion They are really interesting fish and different enough from the "standard fare" ones like clowns, regular firefish, etc. Small and peaceful, so it's like having a six-line but without the potential for fish murder down the road. OK, so apparently I'm meant to have a pink streaked wrasse! When I checked on Live Aquaria they were out of stock last week. But they just sent an email today and they are back in stock, which means I was able to add one to the order that's shipping this week with the green banded goby 4 Quote Link to comment

Can't wait to see them!!!! 2 Quote Link to comment
teenyreef
I found a new LFS today. Well, new to me. They said they've been there for nine years and I never knew I picked up the frogspawn I've been wanting and a couple of zoa frags accidentally ended up coming home with me too https://flic.kr/p/qqG6dN'>https://flic.kr/p/qqG6dN'>Frogspawn by https://www.flickr.com/people/15628054@N06/'>TeenyReef, on Flickr https://flic.kr/p/qH6ARg'>https://flic.kr/p/qH6ARg'>New Zoas by https://www.flickr.com/people/15628054@N06/'>TeenyReef, on Flickr 6 Quote Link to comment

owenj
Yay! You're part of the PSW club now Liking the new additions, though I have a hard time telling some of the froggies from the hammers. Yours looks like a hammer to me 3 Quote Link to comment

teenyreef
Love the color of those green zoas!! Thanks! They turn bright yellow under blue lighting and are really pretty. But unfortunately I haven't figured out how to get decent pictures of corals when they flouresce. Yay! You're part of the PSW club now Liking the new additions, though I have a hard time telling some of the froggies from the hammers. Yours looks like a hammer to me Can't wait for my PSW I agree, I think it's a hammer. I agree... But its still a very lovely color! Maybe it's just not open all the way yet? Thanks, the color was exactly what I was looking for It's opened up all the way now. I'll get an updated picture later tonight, but I agree, I think it's a hammer after all. That's what I get for going to the LFS without my glasses All I really care about is the color anyway 1 Quote Link to comment
kimberbee
Actually, it looks similar in color to the hammer I recently picked up! 1 Quote Link to comment
teenyreef
Got my acan frag pack today Everything arrived in great shape and the colors are beautiful! Way better than any acans I've ever had before - exactly what I was hoping for. They were still pretty puffy in their bags, although they receded after being dipped and put into the tank. I'll get pictures later tonight if they come back out in time. 4 Quote Link to comment

teenyreef
You mentioned that some of your rics lost some color? Sorry to hear that. Some did, right after I got them shipped. I turned the lights down for about a week, and just started turning them back up last week. They have recovered most of their color but they're still a little washed out. Here's what they look like now: Ric Garden by TeenyReef, on Flickr Dam lookin better and better Where did you get your acan from? Thanks! It was a 6-pack from Coral Gardens Aquaculture, advertised here on NR last week. I think they still have a few left. I was really happy with them. Not only did they hold up great in shipping, they looked exactly like the did in the pictures. Not like those deals where they only look good under blue lighting or if you photoshop your pictures. I will definitely buy more corals from them in the future Well, I'm glad you're happy with your purchase! Did it open up a little more since being in your tank? Mine is SUPER puffy and looks very happy! Yes, it did open up more the next day. It's hard to get good pictures of it because it's right in the middle of the tank and I can't keep the lens square to the glass. Here's an updated pic, though: Hammer by TeenyReef, on Flickr 3 Quote Link to comment

teenyreef
Nice! And welcome to Fitzgerald!! Awwww . He's just a baby . Look at those lips . Thanks! He's been doing great. At first he mostly hung out in the back but today he started venturing out in the front side of the rocks. He's got great color now and ate a little bit of LRS Reef Frenzy tonight, so I think he's going to do OK. 3 Quote Link to comment
