TeenyReef's 10g Fusion - ATO Disaster

It's been quite a while since I posted an FTS, so here's a quick and dirty pic. I glued the new acans and zoas in place last night, and moved one of Gena's Idaho Grape montis over from the 4g tank.

Fitzgerald is making a cameo appearance in the back in the upper right side :)

Here's a closer view of the new acans and the rics. The sexy shrimp mostly hang out around the hammer, but one of them ventured over to the acans :)

In other news, I snagged a used macro lens on Ebay the other day (Tamron 90mm). I swear I think I'm more excited to get this new lens than I was for the last batch of corals :D Can't wait for it to show up!

Here's the new Idaho Grape monti - I took this macro shot right before I moved it out of the 4g tank into this one. It's a little over two inches long now. Not bad since it was less than an inch long about six weeks ago :)

I'm looking forward to lost of up-close pics :P

Fitzgerald looks great. Also great that he's already venturing out; Tug took a while to be brave and I'm betting the stint in QT will undo all that confidence <_<

Tamron 90mm macro is a very respected and highly reviewed lens. You will love it.

Fitzgerald is really everything you guys said he would be. The whole family is in love with him

While I was feeding the tank the other night with the pumps off, Fitzgerald came out and investigated the MP10. If I'd ever had any doubts about keeping the filter screen on it, I don't now! He spent a good ten minutes in it. I had trouble getting decent pictures because the lighting wasn't good, but I was able to get a couple viewable ones by cranking up the exposure.

Unfortunately I can't give the ghost skimmer a glowing review. It works OK, but so far I can only keep it from producing microbubbles by cranking up the air venturi all the way. It skims pretty well on that setting but it's noisy and I still get a few microbubbles.

Other people have reported they got theirs to work OK after breaking it in and playing with the settings, so I haven't given up. But it's been way harder than it should be to get it going.

Yeah, that seems to be a popular answer throughout the forum. . Thank you very much for the info! I'll get on the hunt for a different skimmer probably.

Nice! I bought a Tyree Idaho just a couple of days ago, but it doesn't look as nice as yours! I think that it lost some color in the tank that it was in TBH, mine looks more brown than anything. Great progress BTW.

Good luck! Let me know what you end up with and how it works :)

Thanks! It's a frag I got from Gena and it definitely looks awesome in her tank. Depending on the lighting it can look kind of brown. I didn't do any white balance correction in that pic so it's a little more blue/purple than it is in reality. Mine was quite brown at first while it got used to the tank and the lighting but colored up once the polyps started to extend.

I have never checked out your tank but it's great. I love your acans and Fitzgerald is too cute!

Thanks! I love your seahorses. They are some of my favorite marine creatures but I've always been scared of the high maintenance feeding requirements. You're doing an awesome job!

I love the name, Fitzgerald....I think it's very fitting....

Thanks! My son came up with it completely randomly. We were just talking today about what a fitting name it is. He said that Fitzgerald should wear a monocle :)

I still haven't been able to get a decent picture of Fitzgerald when he's out in the light. Here's another low light shot:

Today I got the new macro lens I bought on Ebay (90mm Tamron for $250 - score!). And while I was at the LFS picking up some frozen food I just happened to notice that they had just received a new shipment of Reefgen corals, and, well, one thing just led to another...

This is supposed to be a very small frag of Tracy Morgonian Gorgonian. We'll see what it actually grows up to be...

The first three pictures were taken with the new macro lens. I used the regular lens for this group shot:

Yes!!!!

Thanks, and actually the high maintenance needs of seahorses still scares me, too! Fitzgerald can't wear a monocle, that is for Col. Mustard who maliciously did in Mrs Peacock in the dining room with the lead pipe. Somehow it just wouldn't be fitting for Fitzgerald to whack the sexy shrimp in the aquarium using a hammer tentacle! (A reference to the board game Clue in case my prior statement doesn't make sense to everyone) LOL
