Looks nice.. I just ordered 2 xr 15s too... cant wait for the mounts! Nice custom stand! I don't think youll need the chiller though. I personally thought the ghost skimmer was crap and went with the cadlights pls 50 elite and love the thing.

Tank has been running hot and I see other people switched out the factory pump so I just dropped in a maxi-jet 900 to see if that changes anything.

My house is normally around 73 and the tank is just about under a vent so I don't know why it is pushing over 80. The fan keeps getting trigger at 80.1.

I'll try this for the next 24hrs

Changing the pump has brought it down a degree over night and maintaining at 79.1-2 instead of 80.1-2. After reading a few articles I don't even know why they put such a big pump in there, this tank doesn't need that much flow.

Also added some fish flake last night and today I am still at 0 ammonia. I threw a bit more in while I head out for the morning and will test all parameters when I get back.

well all levels are holding firm and yesterday I spotted my first Aiptasia:

Also spotted some Asterina Stars moving around.

Not bad for for 7 days I think.

I was thinking of doing a water change to see if the parameters hold.

Added CUC last friday (15 Aug), 5xRed tip Hermit's, 1xElectric Blue, 5x Various snails. LFS told me I should get like 10 Crabs and 10 Snails but the GHA isn't that bad so I will see if they can keep up with it. These guys are fun to watch, my 2 year old loves them. Tanks is holding stable after two water changes at 12 Days.

Great looking setup! I can see your a neat freak like me...Very clean :)

What skimmer did you end up getting? I will be ordering my tank/supplies today and with all the negative remarks on the ghost, I am very leery...I was watching YouTube vids on the Tunze you wrote about and that skimmer looks really nice. I am really into aesthetics as well as functionality, so having a skimmer that isn't sticking out like an eye sore is an added plus....

Following.. checking out everyone using the IM 30L - might be my next tank..

Looking good. I especially like the clean cabinet layout - I'm as much into the look outside the tank as inside..

Ended up ordering the Tunze 9001. Originally ordered the Ghost skimmer through LFS but he forgot to order so I told him to just give me a credit and I ordered the Tunze. Seems that there are less complaints about it. Should be here Wed.

Your setup is very clean and organized. Excellent choice of equipment and I think you are set up for future success. You seem like a pretty meticulous person judging by the organization, setup, and even photos of your aquarium. Am excited to follow along as I am also getting a Fusion 30 this week.

Cool! Keep us updated. I actually did more research and the older 9004 might be a better skimmer as it is a little bigger but should fit in the 30L. It's actually crazy because every skimmer review, people either love the skimmers or bash them.

It's really hard to find the "Perfect" one...I guess that goes with everything in life though....The cadlights 50 elite also has great reviews and I have heard is pulls some major black gunk from the tank. I just wish it had a smaller footprint, as I don't care to see a big white plastic tube rising from the back of this tank....

Never mind...After further watching on YouTube, I think the 9001 will be a better fit...Please keep us updated when you get it installed!

Starting to see some hitchhiker life, both good and bad.

I pulled out what I believe was a hesionids bristle worm and I saw another that I lost track of. Also believe I have a firework in the rock work that was too quick for me and retracted back inside a crevice.

Also have a couple of these white worms:

Also have more asterina stars and what I believe to be the legs of a serpent star:

Found a stromatella varia (snail) that I did some damage to because I had no idea what it was at first and when I was trying to remove I tore its foot, but he seems to be doing well:

Looks like something is regrowing???

Finally I see what look like little shrimp, Mysid maybe and other small creatures that I believe are copepods.

Very fun night.

well right now I'm running through the break in period that scotch recommends for two weeks at low speed. I am running at 20% now and then will move them up some this weekend.

As for when I was playing around with them I think 65% will be good for a high with two.

Still trying to figure out how to sync them good for a wave motion. Right now all I get is a bunch of ripples trying to do it.

Looking great!! How often are you doing water changes...Nice and clean!

I've done two. 1st was at 5 days after setup and was 50%. The second was 5 days later just because it was a Sunday and all water changes will be done once a week on Sundays unless I notice something is off with the tank. That was about 6 gallons which is what I will continue to do.

This looks great - I love the pics of your critters. I also love how you have the shelf hanging above the tank. These tanks are so shallow they need something on the wall above. Gives me ideas!

Tunze 9001 added.

FYI, this will not fit in the second chamber like the IM Ghost midsize. I think it would go in the first but that is where the media baskets are.

I had to move a couple things but it sits nicely in the main center chamber attached to the wall between the left side second and main chamber.

Very quiet.

Thanks for the update Rsaalman! I remember you saying you were picking this up on Wednesday and have been patiently waiting for your input! :)

I also read your post on the other 9001 review thread. As far as it not fitting in the second chamber, is that an issue? Excuse my ignorance, but are there really supposed to be areas where certain equipment is supposed to go?

I have read that placing a bio pellet reactor next to the skimmer is a goodidea, but is there a reason to place the skimmer in the second chamber with the 30L? I really like the low profile though. I know it's too early to comment on its performance, but please provide some updates when you can!! Thanks for the pics.

Went by the LFS and picked up my son's "Nemo" fish today, one Fancy and one Snow Flake. He is so excited. Also grabbed some Nassarius Snails, the lady called them Zombie Snails since they burry themselves and come out of the sand at night.
