Picotope Question

Hello all!

After several years away from the hobby, I am back and ready to start up another tank! I got the tip for the Picotopes on sale from DFS and went ahead and bought one. My plan is to keep some zoos, and shrooms. Other livestock would mabye be a pistol shrimp and maybe a clown goby.

My question is, has anyone run the stock lighting and filter with any success? I did a lot of research on the topic and the vast majority of people seem to be upgrading the lighting. This is an office tank so I really have no desire to try to maintain LPS or SPS. I just want something fairly easy, but interesting to look at.

dingusplease got some nice growth off of the stock jbj 50/50's, i wouldn't recommend any less than one though. if you're running the stock filter id recommend running a small powerhead in the tank with it, it just doesn't create enough flow by itself for saltwater

Stock lighting will keep them alive but won't bring out the full potential of color. That and I don't think anyone has used one long enough to test the quality and longevity of the light. Go for it and see how she does.

+1, you'll want to upgrade.

I know man. Dug out and cleaned up my picotope. Really itching to get it started again but the wife has a freeze on my spending. Trying to get a house right now. Haha. Priorities I guess. Sorry for the thread jack. Once I went t5 over my pico, there was no going back to compacts.
