badwhiskey
Just put this skimmer in a few weeks ago...massive amounts of bubbles outta the bottom plate..anyone have problems with this skimmer?...ive cleaned it...checked for kinks...checked pump...im bout ready to put this on the shelf Link to comment
smiz
I had the same issue. I hate the thing. I tried using two different types of filter material in the bottom of the skimmer but neither worked. Mine has been unplugged for 3 months now. Kinda ridicules that a skimmer built for all in one nano's would have such a stupid design to dump that much micro bubbles into your display. Link to comment
ElmoC
I had problems with the build quality of two of those pieces of crap. First one, the bottom would not stay on because of a poor molding job. The bottom piece should have been rejected at build time as one of the tabs was completely deformed and would not lock in place. The insides would fall out every time I went to put it in the tank. The replacement unit had basically the same problem with the top. Go to put it in and the body would fall off and sink to the bottom while I still had the top in my hand. The quality is appalling given the price for it. Link to comment
smiz
Yeah My first one came in and the top was totally dis formed. Had to get a replacement one sent out to me as well. Link to comment

Make sure it is connected correctly with no cracks. Every time you clean it it needs to break in again, after break in they run almost bubble free. Link to comment
ElmoC
When you pay as much as the tunze costs, why should anyone have to zip tie it to get it to work properly? It would have taken some pretty long ties to do it to. The problem could have been easily fixed when it was manufactured. The flaws were extremely obvious but instead of using good parts, they went ahead and sent out obviously defective products. Link to comment
badwhiskey
I've tried everything....pos has bubbles stuck all over the place... Link to comment
cpR
They have been hit or miss for me, the first couple I had worked with no issues but the last one i bought (used) just wouldn't stop throwing out bubbles no matter what I tried. They can be a great skimmer but it doesn't seem that they can also be very finicky, they are actually on the cheaper scale for skimmers these days aren't they? Link to comment

aquageek
Stevie do you know a date on that? I am getting ready to order the 9002 and the upgraded collection cup from you tomorrow for my BC29 lol. I had an AquaticLife (can't remember the exact model) that recently crapped out on me and I need to get a replacement. Link to comment
ElmoC
Was it the 115? That was the one I used when the 9002 kept falling apart on me. Check MarineDepot.com for a link to a video where they show what fits in the BC29 without mods. The 9002 didn't. Link to comment
TeamIM24
Mine has been wet for 6+ weeks and still throws out micro bubbles. They have never been bad but I am surprised they haven't stopped. Skimmer is quiet and pulling medium brown skim. Just surprised it is still spitting bubbles out. Link to comment
smiz
I have the 9002 currently in the second chamber of my biocube with steves media rack and it fits perfect. After having a long talk with the guys at tunze I have to agree with them. No skimmer is going to be perfect at this price point and size. All skimmer are going to produce some micro bubbles. The fact is most users that use these skimmers have AIO tanks. The point being normaly if your skimmer was just in a glass tank the bubbles would float to the top of the water and not be a big deal, or if in a sump would got stopped by a bubble trap. In our case the bubbles are coming directly out of the skimmer and being sucked and chopped up by your return pump. This turns your few micro bubbles into a lot more very fine bubbles that we hate. I think for what you are looking for and what else is out there this is a good product for this range. Maybe Steve can come up with some sort of bubble trap from the second to third chamber! I haven't seen any dimensions yet to know if it fits what AIOs yet like the 9002 does. Link to comment
