Partially Submerged
I have three sexy shrimps in my 3g Picotope. I started with two (store only had two) and had them for a while with GSP, a ricordea, a mushroom coral, and some kind of greenish leather-type coral. A few weeks ago, I added a third sexy shrimp along with a torch coral. The torch was doing beautifully initially, and it still kind of is, but it only extends its tentacles about 2/3 of the length it did when I introduced it. It also seems to have retracted its outer-/lowermost tentacles if that makes sense. I am wondering if the sexies are to blame. I am fairly certain they are not eating any coral (I try to spot-feed them as well as I can), but they like to sit on the coral's stem, and their tails wag against the tentacles a bit. Would this bother a coral? It seems like most coralsI have don't seem to mind being touched by the shrimps. As I said, the torch coral seems perfectly healthy and happy other than the retracted tentacles. It opened fully only a few minutes after I introduced it, and its coloration is excellent. It's also the first coral to "wake up" when the room gets light in the morning. Link to comment
nicholc2
They shouldn't bother it. Mine walk on my hammer and even hung out at its base at first as well and it never seemed to mind at all. It's probably something else. Link to comment
Steensj2004
My Sexies run all over my LPS like frogspawn and Torch....neither seem to care much. +1 on the above... Link to comment
Partially Submerged
Thanks for the quick replies! I'll see if the coral responds to some changes I can make to its environment (light, flow, etc.) Link to comment
