ps2cho
Is it possible to simply leave the bottles outside as long as they are in a good spot for sunlight? I feel like this would save the added expense of a bulb on for 16hrs a day... Link to comment
Boggers
the only issue with that is Temp. large swings would not work out. Link to comment
gogo
i live in southern ontario canada..... i have had a nannochloropsis culture outside in my rainbucket that i use for watering the garden...it didn't over winter but it lived throughout the summer last year.....you gotta fertilize it... sw nanno will convert to fw no problem. and vice versa....i used it as a backup....you don't need constant full sun.... just a few hours of direct sunlight will do it...use a fert that doesn't contain copper. the temperature swings substantially here, so i wouldn't worry too much about that.... i wouldn't use bottles.... my bucket was an opaque white five gallon.... no air, just stirred every other day. i also topped it up with rain water and a few drops of phyto fert. what species are you growing?
