Jimmyboo
Hi guys, I'm new to saltwater fish tanks, but not new to fish tanks in general. I'm interested in setting up a 1 gallon tank which will measure 8" x 4" x 8" (1g) or 12"x 6"x 6" (1.5g). http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BUFTCW6/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=AW16RGW7MN9B2 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0047EKGS6/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A3O88P8V9WW2SX Im super ready to start, but understand the difficulties of trying with a tank this small. Im in no race to stock it or anything, just want to give it a TRY! Filtration My idea is natural filtration with a mini powerhead or little air bubbler. any suggestions which ones? livestock No fish, a few inverts, some corals ( I dont know much about corals at all). Heater maybe a 5w one? Haven't been able to find any good ones yet Lighting Not sure, ideas? -------------- Any other suggestions for overall products? My idea is to seal the tank (mostly) to prevent evaporation and only require a weekly or so top off / cleaning. I would love to also hear about your experiences with tanks this size! doppelganger
I'm kind of confused why you want a betta tank that's separated in the middle. Is there a particular reason? honestly, the cheapest and probably easiest to set up for you would be a standard 2.5 gallon. Link to comment

Angel<3Nanos
For your first time I would do the standard 2.5g. Tho a 5g would be best. Good luck. Link to comment
Jimmyboo
was also considering this tank? not sure if the light is strong enough for corals, also, I would think about taking out the in place filter and putting some LR in there for a natural filtration. http://www.amazon.com/Fluval-Desktop-Glass-Aquarium-2-gallon/dp/B0047XMQBM/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top was also considering a 2g jar and just going from scratch: http://www.amazon.com/Anchor-Hocking-2-Gallon-Heritage-Glass/dp/B000KKI7GY/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1397781606&sr=8-3&keywords=2+gallon+jar+with+lid I really am trying not to push the 2g for space reasons Link to comment
