Bobyboy
MJ1200 is 295 GPH and the stock pump is 476 GPH. Original documentation showed the 30L was only going to have a 317 GPH pump, but I believe they changed that at the last minute. Not double... But they put out more flow than most other pumps that size. There are only a couple of pumps that will fit in these sumps that put out the same or more gph. I was under the impression the mj1200 was closer to 250ish, but you get my point. These pumps pack a nice punch. 1 Quote Link to comment
drfu
They are the 2 from my 24g, and there is no standard upgrade for these tanks as the stock return pumps puts out over twice the flow of the mj1200. Its nice to see that IM is putting some quality hardware in that you don't need to upgrade, i liked how quiet my stock pump was and the variable flow control vs the MJ900 i upgraded to on my nuvo 8. Now if they would just come with some spin streams in the box and use their own custom caddy media baskets these tanks would be good to go right out of the box vs the standard nickel & dimeing that goes into them. Again, loving ur new tank, makes me want one bad! Quote Link to comment

Bobyboy
What skimmer you running?I'm using the Innovative Marine skimmer. I finally got the ATO back up and running, using a aqua lifter pump plus one of the blue 3G water jugs, my old bucket didn't fit in the stand. My acrylic frag tank is now a Qurantine tank for a baby 1.5" hippo with ich that I rescued. Quote Link to comment
Bobyboy
Time for a update. I picked up new test kits the Elos phosphate and DKH kits to replace my old po4 kit I lost the bottle for and I never had a DKH besides strips. I've noticed my zoas on my corner frag racks are stretching for light so I've decided to upgrade my 20" razor to the 27" version. Other than that I haven't made any changes to the hardware besides putting a AquaEuroUSA Mighty Pro CL-85 Aquarium Chiller inline for the summer. As for live stock I picked up 2 nice purple gorgonians and places them in the back on each side of the live rock, they where a steal at 15.00 each and I just couldn't pass on them. One was sticking out the top of the water a good 6" and I just cut it about 2" below the water level and glued it to a frag plug it's been open and happy ever since. I've also added 4 nice big "Green Dream" Grandis Palys and a colony of blue hornets. Finally I picked up a Helfrichi Firefish that I traded some red hornets and rastas for. It's been in the tank for 2-3 days now. And now for some eye candy!! 3 Quote Link to comment
Bobyboy
So here is my updated stocking list, and input would be helpful. I am not planning to add anymore inverts except maybe a conch and CUC as needed. Current fish: Black Ice Clown SixLine Wrasse Helfrichi Firefish Fish I'm considering: Starry Blenny Flameback Angelfish Midnight Ocellaris Clownfish(hopefully it pairs up) Gold Assessor Basslet Yellow Stripe Clingfish So this would be to many fish/overstocked for a 30L if I picked them all up! Maybe cut the midnight as it may not pair up, I know the helfrichi and clingfish have super small bioloads as they don't get bigger than 2", everything else is 3" except the blenny, maybe cut it down to 6 fish? 1 Quote Link to comment
drfu
I would think 8 might be a bit much for the volume of water you have in a 30g, i would think from a maintenance standpoint you would want to have it max out around 6 imo. Simce i dont own amy of the ones you have listed i dont know about the aggression or territorial issues if any you might have. Tank is looking awesome! Quote Link to comment

Yeah I was thinking 6 max, I'm not going to get the clingfish as I've read they can be difficult and need a solid closed top as they can jump through 1/4" netting. Quote Link to comment

Bobyboy
I think I've decided on - Flameback - starry - Golden assessor Fish arrived yesterday from bluezooaquatics, drip acclimated them over the course of an hour then released them into the tank. I also ordered the sand sifting snail package. Again the sixline wasn't the hostile tank mate, the clown displayed aggression. I did lights out and a blanket over the tank for the day and every one seems happy today, the clown still chases every one that comes close to the nem. But that's to be expected and better than before. I'll try and get some pics. Quote Link to comment
Bobyboy
Went in for surgery to have my gallbladder removed yesterday morning. I had my girlfriend check the tank for me and she found the Flameback dead ?! All the parameters checked out, the little guy had been in hiding since last week except during feeding. Bluezooaquatics has a guarantee so I'll send them a email and see what they say. Quote Link to comment

Bobyboy
Well I was recovering nicely from surgery, until I had to be readmitted to the ER for searing pain. Turns out I had a stone in my bile duct and they had to reopen my gut. I figured while I'm stuck in here for the next day maybe I should update my tank thread. So it's going to be another week or 2 of recovery. Having 2 weeks off from work sitting around the house I had nothing else to do except spend some money!! - First I noticed my zoas where reaching and after turning up the light I decided to upgrade to the 27" 160w razor and resell my 20" 120w razor. Ended up selling mine for 300 shipped and buying the new one for 350, not a bad trade. After upgrading lights I still was getting shadows in the corners and along the edges of the tank, the cause turned out to be the included screen top. - I went to lowes and had a 1/4" acrylic( the expensive $60.00 for 4 squat feet stuff) top cut, I drilled to 1/2" wholes in it to be able to lift it with my fingers. This has worked wonderfully, the only thing I need to figure out is how to keep it from fogging up. And before any one says anything this piece has not shown and series signs of warping and has been on the tank for a week. - Next addition is a second MP10, I added this one opposite of my first MP10 on the car right. This is a WES version manufactured in Dec 2013, paid 185.00, now I need a WES RF module for my older MP10. - Temps hit 80 degrees this past week and my tank temp increased as well so I decided it was time to connect my Aqua Euro CL-85 chiller, doing this dropped my return by at least a third so I bought a Mag7 return pump and dropped it in. Today my interior temp hit 81 and the tank held solid at 78.5 where as it was 80-81 before hand. I also picked up some frags - Red monti about 4inches in diameter - Green monti shaped and the size of a cereal bowl - Black sun coral - Super bright pink zoas I also picked up some nice zoa colonies to fill out my frag tank as my reef funds have taken a bit of a hit. - flame skirts - no name blue centers with green skirts - fakes rastas(brown skirt instead of the green) - light pinks - red/pink/purple acan brain - purple with green mouth maze brain I was planing to round out my hornet collection with some Ktar blacks and Ghornets plus a few other select zoas from JR973 but that's on hold until I'm out of the hospital. Looks like I've got another 2 weeks of being home so I'll update with what other changes I decide to make. 1 Quote Link to comment

I love your tank and was wondering if we could use your tank and give you credit for all your hard work. Please let me know, thank you! 2 Quote Link to comment
gahumphrey
Any updates? I have the Nuvo SR-80 and absolutely love it. I'm using the full-size IM media reactor with TLF NPX Bioplastics and an HOB skimmer (damn i'm so pissed that the Ghost skimmers just came out). The combination of the two has allowed me to experience ZERO algae and the tank is 6 months old today. Seeing your post has just about convinced me to move everything out of my 29G BioCube and into one of these Fusion 30L tanks. Quote Link to comment

Seeing your post has just about convinced me to move everything out of my 29G BioCube and into one of these Fusion 30L tanks. I just preordered the ghost skimmer, I got in a bit late so I doubt I'll get the first batch. I'd love to have one of the SR tanks but I just don't have the room. I love the 36" profile of this tank, I am so happy I went with it over the 30g cube. You'll like the 30L much more than the BC29. As for any updates I've noticed my zoas have reacted nicely to the 160w Razor, they are no longer reaching as far as before and I hope they will settle down completely. No new livestock, the sixline has what looks like a pimple on its nose, possibly a sting from a fireworm. After 4 weeks the baby hippo is doing much better, he is out swimming and playing, eating everything including dried seaweed. His sleeping spot is between the back right corner frag rack and the glass. I'm hoping he doesn't outgrow the tank to fast. But if he does that be the reason I need to drop 3k on the SR-120 lol! I am debating about adding kalk to my ATO setup. It's on a float switch with a 30 sec timer using a aqua lifter with a 45 min delay to prevent flooding so I should be safe. The CL-85 chiller appears to be a bit underpowered for this tank as it is only keeping the temps ~1 degree below ambient room temp. I'm looking into picking up a Chill Solutions CSXC-1 as they are rated for up to 30 gallons and are much smaller. In other news I received a Kessil A150 for my frag tank to replace my last par38 as I've now gone through 4 or 5 bulbs and haven't been happy with one longer than a few weeks. 1 Quote Link to comment

NYR
Was looking to start my first reef tank and was set on a 16/24 nuvo. Started reading threads on how they would crack and couldnt bring myself to get one. Saw the fusion 30L has thicker glass and decided that would be my first tank. Your build is the first one i've seen and it's looking great! 1 Quote Link to comment
