D Z
Tank looks great man! When is the wwc shipment coming? I picked it up yesterday! Looks awesome def following Thanks. Join the party....the more the merrier. So I had quite the busy weekend. I got the tank moved upstairs on Thursday. That went pretty well. I really like the new location! https://flic.kr/p/nER7YT'>https://flic.kr/p/nER7YT'>DSCN3879 by https://www.flickr.com/people//'>cchsoracle, on Flickr https://flic.kr/p/nZ74Xv'>https://flic.kr/p/nZ74Xv'>DSCN3883 by https://www.flickr.com/people//'>cchsoracle, on Flickr Everything settled in after the move quite well. Then, I picked up my WWC items from the live sale. I also got a couple other items while I was there. They had a buy 3, get 1 free sale on their $10 frags. I found some really nice gems in the mix, even a Jason Fox Avatar Chalice that needs to color up a bit. Check it out. I also ended up running into a problem with by Yellow Clown Goby. It turns out it likes to eat anything with small polyps, including my new cyphastreas. Well, that was not going to fly. I ended up catching it last night and giving it to my brother in law. So no more YCG after all. Back to the drawing board as far as a replacement fish. I guess I can try my hand at an acros again now, too... It really is not easy to acclimate 11 new pieces at once with this small of a tank. Can barely fit the bags in the tank to float! https://flic.kr/p/nZidhy'>https://flic.kr/p/nZidhy'>DSCN3921 by https://www.flickr.com/people//'>cchsoracle, on Flickr https://flic.kr/p/nGVxzQ'>https://flic.kr/p/nGVxzQ'>DSCN3928 by https://www.flickr.com/people//'>cchsoracle, on Flickr A couple still in the bag teaser shots https://flic.kr/p/nXnrrY'>https://flic.kr/p/nXnrrY'>DSCN3927 by https://www.flickr.com/people//'>cchsoracle, on Flickr https://flic.kr/p/o2cpck'>https://flic.kr/p/o2cpck'>DSCN3925 by https://www.flickr.com/people//'>cchsoracle, on Flickr Dippin' https://flic.kr/p/nZiaNL'>https://flic.kr/p/nZiaNL'>DSCN3929 by https://www.flickr.com/people//'>cchsoracle, on Flickr This guy came off during the dip https://flic.kr/p/o2cmcc'>https://flic.kr/p/o2cmcc'>DSCN3934 by https://www.flickr.com/people//'>cchsoracle, on Flickr This is the WWC Purple Martian Chalice. ninjamyst
that orange acan echinata looks sweeet. i am loving the tide over this tank. When i get a big order, i can't float all the bags in my tank at all. what i do is put tap water into my 5 gallon bucket, make sure it's same temperature as my tank, and float the bags there. it's not perfect since in 30 mins, the water in the bucket will get cold without a heater. Thanks, I am loving the echinata. The colors are awesome. That's not a bad idea. I was able to get by with taking some water out and using chip clips and a spare frag rack to keep all the bags corralled so they did not block my overflow, but I'll keep that in mind for next time. Honestly, though, I don't think I will have another 11 bag acclimating party as I am really starting to run out of room.... Link to comment

D Z
that Acan Echinata is one good looking frag! nice tank too Thanks.....def one of my new favorites! That new batch looks great man. Was there an acan hilae there? I don't think I remember seeing an acan hillae. Got some bad news this morning. My toxic hammer does not look so hot. I'm not really sure what's going on with it. I noticed on Sunday, while I was adding all the new stuff, that it was closed up quite a bit more than usual. It looked the same yesterday when I got home from work. I decided that maybe it needed some more light than it had been getting lately. When I tried to break the glue seem to move it, I accidentally cracked the skeleton of the hammer.... So far, it is still alive, just not looking good. Everything else seems to be doing fine. The 2 Cyphastrea are ok. I think the YCG beat up on them a good amount before I took it out on Sunday night, but I think they will pull through and be ok. I fed some Tropic Marin LPS pellets last night for the first time. Everything seemed to respond well to it. I think I will keep this in the feeding regimen for now. Link to comment
glennr1978
This might sound strange, but if you can remove the hammer take it out and smell it. If it smells like dead fish you may as well toss it now. If not, it should be okay. Nice pick ups btw! Link to comment

If it smells like dead fish you may as well toss it now. If not, it should be okay. Nice pick ups btw! I have heard of that. When I left the house this morning, it still did have some of the polyps out, so I am assuming it is still alive for now. What really sucks is when I went to bed last night it almost looked like the skeleton was trying to close up the gap from where the piece cracked off. I was really hoping to wake up this morning to find that it was looking better, but instead it looked like more had cracked off. Hopefully it doesn't get any worse. Only time will tell. glennr1978
I can typically tell if any of my euphyllia are dying based on look and smell. First it will appear that the tentacles are deflated (even if they are extended), then comes the smell test. If it's dying you will want to remove it. It could cause a "brown jelly" outbreak in your tank. Fwiw, the smell test works for pretty much all lps. Link to comment

glennr1978
I lost two gold torches just last week. They weren't in great shape when they came in but had some tentacle extension. The next day one looked and smelled really bad so I tossed it. The second one only had a faint foul smell so I left it in the tank. It had it's tentacles out the entire time, but they were always deflated. A day later, that one was dead too. Both were out of my tank before any brown jelly took hold. IME, once they smell bad there isn't much hope. Link to comment
Alex B
Sucks about the torch. Next time leave it where it is. I used to be quick to move things too, only makes it worse. Sometimes coral just have a off day when they don't look great. Next day they are fine. Link to comment
D Z
Well, I gave it the smell test when I got home from work last night and it was starting to smell. I also noticed, while it was out of the water, that there was some brown goop starting to form a the base of the tentacles in the skeleton. Unfortunately, I went ahead and tossed it. I still really have no idea what happened to cause it to recede like that. I'm sure cracking it didn't help, but it definitely was having problems before my clumsy intervention. Oh well, I guess sometimes we loose a piece of coral and never really find out why..... Link to comment

D Z
Sorry man. Don't let it get u down! Ehhhh I guess it happens. This is the first coral I have lost that I don't know what to attribute it to. I lost a couple other frags over the past 5 months or so that this tank has been running, but at least the others I knew why(emerald crab, clown goby, etc.) Time to move on I guess. Oh and btw, I took your advice about the cyphastreas needing lower light and moved them into 2 spots that give them shade. So we will see how they respond. Link to comment
smiley28
Sorry to read about your hammer man my very first coral was a torch that I kept for 3 yrs lost it when I went to basic Anyway looks like a pretty solid selection of colors and your floating bags looks very similar to what mine looked like on Thursday had some chip bag clips going Link to comment

Gotta love the chip clips....lol. I had so many bags acclimating I was using multiple chip clips and a spare frag rack to keep them all floating in an organized manner. I think I even had a bag or 2 floating in the rear chamber! lol With renovations at my house taking up most of my time lately, I have not had much time to dedicate towards the tank. I finally made some time last night and was able to do a water change. It was well needed. I also got a chance to take some pics. D Z
Hey all. It has been quite the busy weekend. I finally finished up a big portion of my renovations at home. For fun, I will post some pics of what I have been working on the past couple of weeks. I did find a spare hour or so to stop by World Wide Corals on my way home from work on Thursday, though. And...... Now that I had to get rid of my yellow clown goby, I decided it was time again to try an acro again. I wanted to try something cheap in case it did not do well. In the end, though, I will only have room for 3 - 4 acros on the top of the right hand rock structure. Therefore, I am planning on being very selective on what acro frags I choose. Therefore, I took a look in WWC's $10 frag bin. There are always some gems hidden in there, if you are willing to buy a frag that needs a little TLC. I ended up finding what looks to be a WWC Toxic Acro, but it's browned out. So far, so good though. It has had some very good PE since a couple hours after putting it in the tank. Alex B
Good job on house! I need to do something about my floors. I hate the tile that's in it. Was thinking about digging in at the end of summer, but now a move may be on the horizon. Link to comment
D Z
Thanks man. After it is all done, you should stop by and see it, and the tank for that matter. Both have changed quite a bit since the first time you were at my house. Replacing tile is both a pain in the butt and messy. I got lucky and we were able to pull most of the tile out in whole pieces. When the thin set is really think under the tile, it gets a lot messier and a lot more work intensive. In either case, though, I like the look of wood/laminate better, and is worth it IMO. Buying a house, on the other hand, is a lot easier in regards to doing work, until you factor in the packing/unpacking part....I'm not sure which I would rather do, lol. Link to comment
Alex B
For sure dude I'll stop by one of these days. I think I would rather tear my whole house apart over moving again. Gosh it sucks. Now to think I have a big tank to move too. Hopefully I can figure something out and it doesn't come to a move Link to comment

D Z
I love the new flooring! Thanks! I looks soo much better than our old laminate and definitely better than carpet/tile. We will just have to be careful with the water/liquid in the kitchen. Link to comment
